Palace - did nothing, loaned out
Gent - did nothing, returned to Palace
Trabzonspor - scored a lot in a poor league

He’s had 1 decent season and that was in a poor league. We’ve been here before and it’s never worked out well.

At £25m... if he flops then you’re not going to get anywhere near your money back for him. There was to high a risk based on his past to purchase him.

Sorry to break this to you pal - but Leipzig know a million times more about the player than what you've gleaned from Wikipedia. Reducing his career to silly statements like that means nothing. As has been covered in my post - Hodgson played the 6'3 target man as a left winger when bringing him on when they were chasing games. Not to mention he was still acclimatising to a new country, then shipped to another new country in a poorly-thought-out loan - before smashing the Turkish league when he actually got game time and played in his obvious position. Also, he was actually well-liked and rated during his time at Gent and they wanted to sign him permanently - but Wikipedia doesn't mention that.

He's going to smash it in the Bundesliga, people writing him off as a 'Palace flop' are being embarrassingly simplistic.

Fwiw, I'm not saying we should have took the risk - I'm saying people writing him off will be proven wrong as they always are.

Edit - bit of a silly "d'oh" here pal, when you're the one proudly displaying your ignorance. Some of you just love getting egg on your faces, don't you? You set yourselves up for it all the time, with absolutely nothing to back-up your simplistic stances. Some numpties on SC or Leipzig - whose opinion of a player do I value more? :nailbiting:

Alexander Sorloth is expected to complete move to RB Leipzig from Trabzonspor by the weekend.

Sorloth didn’t return to Turkey after playing for Norway last week.

Eyebrows were raised with links to a move to Tottenham on Monday, but Sorloth is expected to sign for Leipzig and replace Timo Werner.

The fee is just over £20m with Crystal Palace set to receive around £7m.

Think he may turn out to be decent, but no way I would have wanted us making the gamble at the price quoted.

Let's hope it's not another Grealish. This thread has been very similar to that one a few years ago when we were talking £20m, and there's now (probably some of the same) people suggesting we should go for him at £60m.

RB have a good track record, so it'll be interesting to see

We haven't been linked with him for a week and Palace seem to be waiting around on this deal to make a move for Benrahma. Just under 24 hours ago the RB chairman was supposed to have said they were in 'the home straight' to concluding this deal.

Can't wait.

He was going for 22m and we've allegedly been quoted 35m for wout so could come down to asking price on this one

I've backed him up too much on here, don't want him now. If he comes and fails, I won't be able to live it down when the virgins come for me

Utd were also linked with him a few months ago. Maybe Solskjaer wants him to give them a different kind of option up front. Think they extended Ighalo's loan until January but probably looking to get in a replacement now due to January being not too far away and it being harder to bring in players in that window.
