I’m a massive critic of Daniel Levy and Enic but having seen the list of strikers we have been linked with this window I can’t say I’m massively disappointed we didn’t sign any of them pretty much all of them would have been high risk purchases. Look at the struggles every club is having signing a striker at this time of year there just aren’t the decent strikers available.

The damage was done in the summer by letting two strikers leave the club and not replacing them.

Perhaps. Interesting that Jose is going by the rhetoric that we need to sign players not just to solve the problems now but also for the future. Is he actually intending on staying for a good while to see the fruits of his labour and our signings over a few windows, similar to Klopp at Liverpool or is he just doing the best he can and like Poch toeing the party line. Naturally it is good if the club are buying players like Bergweign who like Jose said "he is good for now but he is also good for the future" but fact of the matter is we got ourselves into this mess by going into the season with no back-up striker. Now we will run Son and Moura into the ground just like Kane was before him.

Spurs are so frustrating, on one hand we do something positive but then on the other hand we don't do what we really need to do.
Its like telling someone off who then buys your flowers to say sorry and that they've learned what they did wrong but then the very next day repeating the same thing they did to upset you. We won't win anything with a player recruitment strategy that we have at the moment, i'm pretty fuming we couldn't find some sort of stop gap striker even for the rest of this season. Goodbye top 4 and fa cup. We better seriously sort the squad out for jose next summer or i hope the knives come out for ENIC finally.

Mourinho on Spurs transfers: "I'm not expecting any players. The market is open though. I'm happy [with my squad[ but I have to answer yes it would be better with a striker. Yes we would need a striker to have a better squad to face the challenges ahead."

"I cannot hide. If I say it's an easy situation to play three competitions without a striker, I'm going to lie and I cannot lie. It's important for us but if it's not possible for us, it's not possible.

"It's important that we are all together on this. We don't want just a striker to be helpful now, we want a striker who would be good for us and good for our future."

He won't be that nice next window when it's rinse and repeat.

Basically saying it's not his fault if we don't win any trophies and reach top 4 since it's basically impossible without a striker, but doesn't blame the club since January transfer window is difficult.

It's a pretty accurate and fair summation too tbh.

Im going to put something on Jovic to us... or Llorente as a fall back but I just have had a sneaky suspicion of Jovic to us for the six months... He is the only player that hasnt had much in the media about him.

Thank me later :)

Agree

on all counts with JM. and no it's not DL fault but the bloody Jan market.

To a certain extent I agree but we could have got Willian Jose or PK if levy would have stumped up the cash. They may not have worked out in the long term but it would have given us a better chance of top 4 this season

I've got to give a lot of credit to the club though. The range of reasons we manage to create for not signing a player is sensational. Whether it be image rights, agent fees, no obligations, no loans without options, fitness concerns, work permit problems, or teams conveniently ALWAYS changing the terms (we would never). 100% A* for creativity all round.

It all comes down to £ and ENIC’s reluctance to part with it

But it isnt/wasn't just a case of stumping up cash!

Wasn’t it? PK went to another club for £23m
Do we really want another Janssen though?
If the powers that be weren't sure enough on him to commit, then what's the point of just wasting money.
I don't want any old player unless they are going to improve us and even then, it's got to be value for money.
Should we just go out and spend 50m on Andy Carroll? How much shit did Liverpool get for that move?

It's all very well say "just go and spend 23m on Piatek" but who gets the blame if he flops? I would rather save the money and put it towards someone that the manager is convinced will improve the squad.
