I'm judging on what I see on the pitch.
Which isn't encouraging.
Poch got booted for the same thing.
Mourhino came in and said he'd changed.
He's most definitely hasn't.
Already digging at players in press conferences and playing hoof football.
He's being tactically outsmarted by rookie managers.
If he turns it round I will be the first on here saying we'll done I was wrong.
We have a fantastic squad that needs a couple of upgrades but we also have some seriously good youngsters who deserve better.
Watching the tripe served up by a team that Mourhino keeps picking will see some of the better players leaving.
He was forced into changes today and it worked so congratulations are in order for that.
Let's see on Saturday if he can learn from today.
When you say “if he turns it around” what on earth do you mean as he’s taken us from 14th to 5th since he’s taken over???

Pochettino was 'booted' for getting 14 points from 12 matches, 1 fewer than Mourinho has managed in 7 matches.
Mourinho actually explicitly said he's the same person he always was.
There's some hoof ball, yes, though I think that's quite insulting to Toby, there's also a fair bit of individual brilliance and some good passing moves too. It's not ideal, but with no prevailing obvious midfield combination and little training pitch time at least it's getting results.
Tactically outsmarted by rookie managers is just a massive exaggeration.
Turns what around? The excellent form he has us on?
You mean all those youngsters who were getting regular football pre Mourinho?
Yes, Drogba, Lampard, Cole, Essien, Terry, Cole were all desperate to get away from Mourinho.
So now he doesn't even get credit for making the right changes and those changes working?
Learn what exactly? Saturday is a new game against a new team in new circumstances. Has nothing to do with today.

Do you get a prize for being 5th half way through the season?
Are you going to be happy playing long ball football and finishing 5th at the end of the season?

My thoughts on the players

poch tried to play the wrong formation with the wrong players - that was all on him

Jose has come in and gone back to a formation that suits the current players we have - the issue now is said players are so ‘low’ it is taking time to get them back to their better selves.
He is tasked with driving results and I’ll go back to my first point - he is getting results that poch couldn’t with the same tools. Fact is that is better than what we had.
You say you would love to be proved wrong but your previous posts don’t support that sentiment

I back the right now - not the past and not the unknown future
The right now is better than what we had for the past 12 months and I for one am happy.
I’m not worrying about what might happen in 1 or 2 years based on an opinion after watching 6 weeks of a manager with a group of individuals that were clearly fed up.
In fact I’m optimistic that we have a proven winner and in your words a fantastic squad - so to use your way of summising that can only be a good thing
fantastic squad + proven manager = ........

time will tell - something you cannot know right Now

You’re missing the point - 6 weeks you have given him to validate your concerns????

Mourinho has had a decent start. 15 points out of a possible 21 in the league. The losses against Man Utd and Chelsea had a similar vibe to them imo, where we just looked a bit rudderless and disjointed. Felt tactically both those teams done bit of a number on us.
I wasn't too sure about Mourinho in the first place for a number of reasons and to be honest still have my doubts. Can't help feel it's a marriage of convenience. If he gets us into the top 4, he will have done brilliantly.

Just feel he is saying the right things at the moment about the squad being good enough because he knows this is the hand he has been dealt in order to meet the clubs objective of qualifying for the CL so trying to keep players onside. Next summer the real Mourinho comes out imo and he'll want major surgery to the first team with quality that will cost and just feels inevitable him and Levy end up clashing (doubt Levy will care as long as we are in the CL)

From now until the end of the summer window, I think he'll want a RB, LB, DM, CM, backup option to Kane. Possibly even a GK and if Vertonghen leaves, a CD. He'll know he probably won't get all that in 2 windows but if serious inroads are not made into what he thinks we need, it's going to turn sour by the beginning of next season. Just don't see him wanting to go into a new season with the aim being to secure top 4. Obviously hope I'm wrong but struggling to see anything else to be honest with Levy's form.

The problem is Pochettino left after making it clear that we need a real rejuvenation of the squad, not what Levy wants to hear... Jose was hired afer he told Levy he thinks we have the third best squad in the league, music to his ears. Poch had real leverage over Levy coming into this season, but right now Mourinho has rather little.

All the talk of “hoof ball” from the Mourinho haters is quite funny. We were playing quite a bit of “hoof ball” when we were at our peak under Poch a couple of season ago.

Hilarious isn’t it? Like José invented Toby quarterback passing every 2 minutes

Next summer is going to be very interesting imo. Way Levy operates won't be changing, so let's see what kind of Mourinho we get then, especially if he gets us into the CL. I don't believe he will change either when it comes to his approach to transfer/targets. This is a guy who kicked up a stink at Utd with all their money, can't wait see what happens when he dealing with Levy next summer.

More like Poch left because we were displaying relegation form over a long period and there was no sign that he had any answers to address this. The fact we’ve scrapped our way up to fifth suggests the squad while unbalanced suggests we had far too much quality to be fighting in the bottom half.

For all the talk of hoofball, today’s second goal was the result of a slick, quick move which got us behind Brighton’s defence involving several players.

Big test for José coming up - he needs to rest Kane, but Kane won’t like it. Who wins that one?
Question aside this is where we really need a viable back up to Kane for exactly these times. Difficult as if Kane is fit he plays so anyone as back up will not often get a look in.
Will be interested to see if someone comes in during the transfer window to play the Llorente role from last season.

Regarding hoof ball:

when Toby plays kong, it’s either perfect or at least so close to perfect that we can bounce on the second ball.

when Sanchez plays the long ball it is a different story

Hopefully today showed Jose the need to have at the VERY least Lo Celso, Ndombele Lamela or Eriksen on the pitch at all times. Need a passer on the pitch.
