He’s literally had ZERO service

That's how this works. Aguero scores from half a yard out because if incredible passing and he is a top striker. Kane doesn't run the ball past all 11 players from my own half and he is shit.

Imagine Kane in this city side, he would score 50 a season. Let's hope he doesn't fancy going up north!

It's always the same conundrum when facing City. They have an insane press and they have enough quality up front to great chances out of nothing.

We're so scared of them breaking up our play that the players that should see a lot of ball Eriksen, Ndombele etc are just hoovering around the middle. The two players that have the most touches are probably TA and Rose and they are forced to hoof the ball towards Kane and hope for the best.

If you're gonna go toe to toe with this City team you just have to dare to play their own game. Press them high and play aggressive, stretch the team and play incisive passes. They are so superior at keeping possession that its the only way.

Not sure why the need for the meltdown. This is probably the best team in the world we're playing.

They won the league last season despite missing their best player for half the campaign and going up against a Liverpool side that had astonishing good luck with regard to injuries, opponents throwing the ball into their own net week after week, and a dozen blatant dives being awarded with penalties.

They're a million miles ahead of us and there's little shame in that, their oil money means they simply don't operate under the same conditions as 99.99% of football clubs.

Probably because we want to win something, and if Liverpool can challenge city then theoretically so should we be able to.

This is just a load of bollocks so far and a repeat of pretty much every game we play against City.

Our fullbacks haven't been perfect, but they are just getting hung out to dry by the guys in front and inside them. KWP repeatedly throughout that half and Rose in particular for the second goal. Constantly have two or three players to deal with and make a thankless choice. But that's how City play trying to overload in those areas and we always struggle against them, yet we just rock up and play the same way again.

All of them can play much better but in particular our quartet of midfielders (Eriksen, Winks, Ndombele, Sissoko) have got to do better, whether that's tracking runs, covering men, wanting the ball and zipping it about with a bit more oomph, just everything.

People glorifying City, I don't think they've had to do much.

We really looked clueless in that half. Midfield all over the place, defence shocking and Kane must be absolutely starving.

I can't believe we play the 3 again in the CM area.

IT DOESN'T WORK.

Sissoko and Ndombele in the CM. Winks off.

Lo Celso in the middle with Moura and Lamela out wide. Eriksen off. We need Lo Celso linking the attach, Eriksen very average for me.

We could do with some pace if we're playing on counter.

Would stop them committing so many players forward.

It’s not Poch’s style to make personnel changes at halftime. He expects his starting eleven to do better.

So much overreaction in here. They're a world class side who we know are much better than us and they're showing that right now (not to mention we're without Son, Alli and the likes of Ndombele and Lo Celso are yet to settle).

They'll likely beat us but why the drama?

It’s not drama... the club want to be challenging for honours but you don’t get them by consistently failing to compete with your competition. If we go into these games with a negative attitude we’re handing both City and Pool 6 pts each.

I really dont know what has happened to this squad for the last 8 months.... we look so far away from the side we were 2 years ago under Poch.
Yes I know we are playing City, but we nearly lost to villa last week who got beat comfortably today by Bournemouth.
we are miles behind. even arsenal have closed the gap IMO
No we didn’t nearly lose we won the fucking game. We had 70% of the possession and won 3-1. Stop pissing your knickers city are different class to villa and will beat all the top 4 they are class

Will absolutely take that at half-time. We're set up to be cautious and rightly so against this team with their motivation. Being cautious hasn't really worked as City are just so good with De Bruyne, Sterling and B Silva who are football magicians.

Once again the SC Match Thread delivers. Just what kind of delusion do you have to have as a football fan to think we were going to come here, dominate and pepper the City goal first half.

Remember - this City side is one of the best ever assembled. But, more than that, they have the added motivation of playing the side THAT DUMPED THEM OUT OF THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

The Chicken Little's that infest this thread with their despair and anger and useless spitting rage seem utterly incapable of the most basic forms of "support". Every mistake means a player is shit; every goal of their a defensive disaster. A formation and coaching travesty. No apparent understanding that Kevin De Bruyne is a magician at delivering assists. And has been for years.

SMH

Anyway - if we can Ndombele on the ball a bit more second half and bring Moura on with the game not gone we have a chance. And I'll take that.
