Hello

Benteke Deal is still on and we are trying to conclude ;)
The have we, or havent we bid, conversation is difficult as its not like you are buying a house, it all goes a bit backwards like dogs sniffing each others arses and then picks up a bit of momentum then nothing official but a lot of agents involvement and then potential deal scenarios. All very very backward way of doing business and then at the end of all of this Daniel says ok and offers them 200grand!! (joke)

Our deals are always a bit complex but worth it in the end if they come off.

I'm still confident at this point in time and dont get impatient. Sometimes we do players and it take 3 weeks to announce and on others we announce immediately.

Would there really be any point arguing with you? Your statement that my opinion is a "distortion of reality" suggests you know the reality, or are so convinced by your belief of what is reality that nothing I say will make you see your perceived reality any differently

Now I don't mind having an argument about the merits of different views and opinions but when someone's mind is so sure there seems little point, unless of course you are Daniel Levy and want to explain the reality and give your side to it, but if you aren't then I'll pass but feel free to post your own opinions, it's always interesting to hear other views even if I may not agree with them

So all the arguments you've put forward in this thread you're not sure about ?

I'm thinking that this would be one that would be announced the second it was signed - Villa would want closure to the whole saga and we would want to show we are doing business.
As far as Ade and Benteke in the same squad, that would be immense if both were on form. I quite like the idea of them and Defoe all fighting to prove themselves and bettering each other in the process.

I read an article last night (morning your time) about DV, saying we fucked around for a couple of months and Athletico came in and wrapped up a deal in 3 days.

At the tail of the article there were identical comments by Tin Jedvag, saying he talked to us for months and Roma came in and wrapped up a deal in 3 days.

Roma and Athletic are not terribly rich clubs but gees the article was pretty scathing of how we do business.

It basically backs up what you are saying about our negotiations for Benteke as well, not that your info needs backing up.

Cheers for the update JJ.

Just come back from the Spurs training ground and all i can say is WOW! The place is football heaven. I was lucky enough to have a full tour. When you're there you actually realise the size of the place and how work must have gone into building such an amazing facility.

It's funny BAE was quoted saying he doesn't know Paulinho. Well he will now, as their lockers are next to each other :D .
Starting from the left Paulinho has locker number 1 and BAE is number 2.

I was introduced to Clive Allen's brother Bradley Allen and Ugo Ehiogu, who is now coaching some of our youngsters. We have some really talented players and hopefully the training facilities will give them a better chance of progressing through to our senior team.

The training pitches are numbered in a clockwise order.... as you progress through the years you move closer and closer to the first team pitches. Something for the youngsters to aim towards.

Unfortunately i didn't see any first team players because they had a match yesterday but they have been doing late sessions.

Believe it or not i was told Adebayor has been immense since he returned to training. The word used was "untouchable".
Maybe he'll make up for last season :)

Dawson is the most professional trainer and always gives 100%.
I was told a few other bits but i can't really post on here... I'll pass some stuff on to the mods.

EDIT: i'm not sure what happened to the font
If you haven't already PMd one of us, drop me a PM with the rest.

Don't get everyone started on that again; they've only just shut up!

I think an on form Adebayor up against Benteke, if his upward trajectory continues, would be a close call. He certainly doesn't shit all over him.

Adebayor has more finesse and class all round currently, but Benteke is a lot younger and has had one season in this League - and I might add he still outscored Adebayor's tally the season before last in a pretty weak side. Perspective needed there.

Yes a lot more to it than just the goals. The thing for me that Benteke has over Adebayor is a consistent hunger and he actually uses his physical prowess to bully defenders. He's more aggressive and much, much better in the air - which is also an advantage for holding the ball up and bringing others into play.

Ultimately I think Benteke will be better the player in time, as he develops and improves his game even more. Consistency will out that in the end as well I would imagine.
