Sell Modric for £30m+, decide replacement at £20m is too expensive.

Another of Daniel Levy's accountants appears on SC. What a surprise.

It wasn't 'just' 20 million though. You would have to add to that his signing on fee, agents fees, and then take into account his wages for the length of the contract. This isn't Football Manager this is real life and unless you have the unlimited backing of someone with more money than sense books have to balance.

But even if Moutinho were to fail, he's at an age where he would have the magic sell on value (at least 40% of what they want)
I'm sure Porto or another Portuguese club would take him back, so the risk is not that great IMO.

With the exception of Bentley and probably Bent (although I think we got quite a good % returned on him?) it's very rare for our (recent) investments in players to go totally to shit.

So they've accepted the offer? Does that mean that the players are going there?

until i see them holding up the shirt at a press conference i don't believe anything anymore. and if it's spurs, not even then, only when they've hit the first defender with a corner. (y)

It's very unlikely that any offer has been accepted. The source has proven to be consistently wrong over the years. And while he MIGHT be right here, it's going to be because even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes, not because he knows what's going on.

He makes the Daily Fail appear credible and unbiased.

We got Modric's wage off the books. Not that you'd get that, from your selective quotations.

So Monaco to Levy's rescue then... I'm sure he was getting quite anxious about having to spend so much precious money on a player.... one bullet dodged.

Forward with Levy... :banghead: :banghead:

What a waste of two careers if true. Playing in a shit league with one other good team, just in it for the money.

As things stand they won't even be playing in the top division in France. The French League have denied Monaco entry to Ligue 1 due to their refusal to move their headquarters to France and start paying tax like everybody else.

The source is questionable at best and outright BS at worst. If by some miracle it's true then Moutinho has very little ambition IMO

Modrics wages lost, Mouts then comes in - a small + \ -

I haven't quoted anyone and Moutinho's wages would have been considerably more than Modric's. As was to be have been expected you have ignored. the other costs associated with player purchases.

Don't think that's official at this point. They're supposed to have talks starting the next week or so.

To be fair to the guy, it is obvious that not all revenue generated by outgoing transfers is going into the budget for new signings. The stadium has to be paid for and Levy is clearly allocating for it

Possibly but DL did say stadium would not impact team building (although I didn't believe that).

I think it clearly is (42 m in cash spent on infrastructure last year)
