4 - 3 - 3 for me,

Townsend - Obika - Falque
Mason ----- Sig
Huddlestone
Naughton - Caulker - Dawson - Smith
Lloris
Ade on bench if fit, the bring him on later in the game. Would like a strong bench too as I would like to go very in this comp too.

Can't play Obika I don't think. He was our one over 21 who didn't make the 25 man squad.

---------------Lloris

Smith--Dawson-Caulker--Naughton

--Hudd-------Parrett-----Carroll

-Dempsey-----Ade-------Townsend
Parret play over Mason:rolleyes:
I think Mason, Falque, Dawson, Caulker, Townsend, and Smith are locks to make the starting XI.

I'd love to see Pritchard get a shot to start as he looks to be one of the most talented young fellas that we have.

If Naughton's healthy he should get the nod, but other than that I think it's all guesswork.
I think Falque is unlikely to start
Lloris
Smith--Dawson-Caulker--Naughton
Hudd-------Jenas
Townsend-----Mason-----Dempsey
--Ade
I hope Carroll plays instead of Jenas but I cant see it happening

I definitely expect Lloris to start, he's new to football in this country - so on that basis alone I expect him to play.

That side or similar is fine, hoping Ade gets a run out though - or better yet starts. Would love to see him back in the side for the United game.

Loris should be loaned out to Torquay.

Tendonitis in your knee (assuming it's his knee) can become a big time nagging injury. The best thing for it is rest and some light rehab work. If not given the right amount of time for the inflammation to alleviate itself and allowing it to build back strength, you really are at risk of it simply coming back as bad as it was before.

Hmmm so that's what's wrong with my p*nis.

I wonder if we are starting from the wrong premis - Man U, Arsenal and a few others are happy to start this competition with almost completely youth teams.

We also have this injury List v QPR was : Gomes, Naughton, Assou-Ekotto, Kaboul, Livermore, Parker, Adebayor

If we do go with a younger team, we probably start with the current u 21 team and look to slide in a couple of more experienced players.

This was the u 21 team which defeated Stoke 7-2.

Archer
Smith, Veljkovic, Hall, Byrne,
Parrett, Carroll,
Falque, Mason, Ceballos.
Obika

I would put Cudicini in goal (we did that in last seasons Europa League and it worked well), probably play Michael Dawson in place of Grant Hall (similar types of CB but Dawson obviously far more experienced. Veljkovic is a risk at only 16, but very capable, the alternative is Stewart (18) who is equally capable - possibly both are less of a risk than Byrne at LB, but we do not have too many alternatives at LB. Smith is no risk against Carlisle - he could at a stretch play LB but prefer to keep him at RB
Parrett and Carroll both have league experience at higher levels than Carlisle, so would not be a risk. Equally Mason and Obika have more than enough league experience to look after themselves - and have a good track record over 5 years as an effective strike force. Falque is old enough to look after himsellf but lacks league experience, and Ceballos even more so. Townsend should probably be slotted in for one of them and possibly Jenas as RM.
The bench probably needs a few experienced heads, if we need them, and a couple more youths (perhaps the ones displaced above) or include the likes of Alex Pritchard
If we could do this, the selection problems against ManU at the weekend are minimised and everyone is fully rested..
Only problem with this team is that the u21's play Southampton this evening - worth looking at the team played there to see who might be available against Carlisle !

Physio room has us with 7 injured players at the minute, with none due back for Wednesday night. The 7 are Naughton, Livermore, Adebayor, Assou-Ekotto, Kaboul, Gomes and Parker. So I wouldnt expect to see any of them feature.

Therefore, we are shot at both left back and up front for this one. Defoe will want to play, but will AVB risk him? Perhaps if he knows Adebayor will be fit for Saturday, otheriwse it may well be Dempsey leads the line for us.
Tough line up to call as we dont know how AVB views this competition and particularly this game, with Utd awaiting us on Saturday.

I'll guess at:
Lloris
Smith Dawson Caulker
Huddlestone Jenas
Falque Sigurdsson Townsend
Mason

Ooh, that's bad timing - we need to win that U21 game and Soton won't be easy. Tough if all our best kids are needed for Cup action.

People keep putting Jenas in their team. I have not heard of any injury, but he did not play in the last behind-closed-doors friendly and has not been on the bench since, so I am guessing he is unavailable.

Yup, was looking at the u21 side and players they could sensibly play include :

Goalkeeper - no real problem even if Archer played at Carlisle (unlikely) with Miles and Vigoroux available

Defence - much greater problem, aside ftom William Ekong (cb, Academy Year 3) and Jack Barthram (r/l fb) we could probably draft in a couple of full backs from Academy Year 2 in Grant Ward and Roman Percil-Michael and at cb Dominic Ball (really a cm) or Connor Ogilvie - young but good. However this would be a much weaker set to bring in. Really, if more than about 2 of the u21 defenders step up to play at Carlisle, the u21's are much weaker.

Midfield - Alex Pritchard, Jack Munns, Giancarlo Gallifuccio plus one or two from Academy Year 2 such as Laste Dombaxe could step up. Much better position than in defence.

Strikers - Souleymane Coulibaly and Shaquille Coulthirst would probably both welcome the step up, and that will happen this season, so that's possibly not so bad.

So in summary the real problem for u21's would be in defence if the u21's are pulled in whiolesale to play at Carlisle.

Re Jenas - not heard anything but thought his absence was due to some so called fans booing him at the last game he appeared in. Stupid behaviour, but at Carlisle hopefully none of those so called fans would have travelled.

Looking forward to this game, always love an early league cup game. One of the few times I listen to Spurs on the radio with there rarely being a stream and I really enjoy it, back to the days before live TV and the internet ruined the world.

Interesting that Southampton are also playing on Wednesday - and they said :

"Over the last few years, we have blooded a lot of young players in this competition because the vision of the Club is to get a lot of home-grown players through into the First Team, so we'll continue to do that.
"There's competition for places now so there's a chance for other players to come into the team and stake a claim.
Wonder if they have alreadyt talked to Spurs about the u 21 match tionight, if so, maybe both sides will rest some of their senior u 21's so that they can play in their respective Capital One cup ties on Wednesday.

Only a few hours to wait now (match 7 pm), but could be very interesting to look at the Spurs u 21 lineup

Ooops
I left the LB out and meant to go back to it. As you have previously indicated, we are short at LB right throughout the squad at all levels, hence our move for Fryers, so I am genuinely stuck at who will play there. NO Benny, no Naughton, wont play Bale or Vertonghen IMO. Perhaps Townsend there? Or perhaps a change in system with Townsend as wingback, smith wingback. Someone like Livermore or Huddlestone dropping in and helping out the 2 CBs.
AVB will want a win, of that I have no doubt. He'll be determined to win every game we play until the boo boys get off his back.

Plenty of options to fill the 11, just a bit short at LB and striker.

Those old FA Cup replays etc on the radio were amazing. Absolute nightmare to listen to though as you had no idea what was actually happening!

I'm actually going up to Carlisle tomorrow night and staying over #mustbemad
