Fati broke on the scene for Barca at the same age as Scarlett. He could very well be involved next season but still very early days. Love his work rate and enthusiasm though. Good to see him as a wide forward too as could be a great future position for him.

Well, Benfica are getting hammered at the moment and are in the middle of a crisis. There's a high chance they will have a fire sale this year as they need to bring in a new generation of players, so perhaps they will be happy to let him go for 20m or so.
I wish we were in the crisis Benfica are in. 3 league losses all season! I do get your point though, but maybe CV becomes part of that generation.

Also, having looked at the league, Rúben Amorim is doing an unreal job. only 6 dropped points all season.

Part of me doesn’t want Dane Scarlett to make it at Spurs just because of all the bad Captain Scarlett jokes I will have to put up with on here

Well Troy will need a proper loan next season I think so why not keep Dane with the first team squad and then the year after start looking at loans
Lets see how he does, but he needs a goal, and if he comes back in poor confidence, I think he'd actually benefit more development-wise, staying here, getting his confidence back by training with the first team and in U23s and remind them of why he's rated highly. Rather than just farming him out to different teams as more and more doubts creep into his game and hello Phill Ifil. Loans can be positive things for development, but not always. It's just one of many tools.

He's doing a monumental job and bigger clubs will soon be circulating.

Sporting haven't been close to the title for some time and are supposedly in a huge financial crisis. Had to sell their better players.

Across the city, Benfica brought Jesus back (not that one haha) and spent a fortune getting in quality, as well as PL veterans and have ended up falling far behind.

I think they'll be desperate to offload a number of players and they are currently inbetween phases.

Pizza, Seferovic, Taarabt and Vinicius will likely be offloaded. I was speaking to an ex-Benfica player today and that was his opinion.

Therefore, I believe Vinicius will be available much cheaper than what Benfica marked as originally.

Jesus will want that money in fast

Nice to see Dele getting his swagger back today absolute peach of a ball for Vinicious' goal, right where he wanted it, laid on lovely ball for Bale and the kind of goal that'll boost his confidence no end.
Gareth Bale has been running and passing the ball but today he looked more like his old self, gliding and stroking the ball, all positive signs.
Interesting to hear Jose describe Dane Scarlett as a diamond, he really rates him.

I remember Pizzi being quality whenever I've watched them. Since you have quite a good grasp on portugese football, what's your take?

Well that was pretty much as perfect as it could have been.

1) Dele MOM. Excellent display. More impressed with his assists and attitude than the wonder goal (oh but WHAT a goal!)
2) Vini getting 2 goals (unlucky when he rounded the keeper too)
3) no defence calamity from anyone.
4) Joe Hart kept a clean sheet
5) no Son or Kane needed
6) Bale looking like he might really be back (what a finish!)
7) young talent off the bench and in the shop window (for loans that is)
8) Dane with an assist
9) and finally a really encouraging post match interview from JM. Positive about Dele and the praise he gave Scarlett was unbelievable (I can’t believe he said he expect ms him to be a first team player next season! )

all in all - just about perfect

Just watched the highlights again.

Dier most certainly committed YET ANOTHER ludicrous foul *in the box* due to his poor positioning, was a stone-cold pen and possible red card. We were only 1-0 up at the time, and the entire game would've changed had the ref seen it differently.

Liability. Does not deserve to start in the EPL anytime soon.

Wasnt it outaide the box? If we're talking about the same incident? Agree though the one I'm thinking of was poor.

you're probably right - maybe it was just outside the box, yes.

but my point still stands: this whole narrative of "our defense made no mistakes" tonight is bollocks. Dier *ONCE AGAIN* totally fucked up - several times in that single move alone - and just got super super lucky.

Enjoy the win mate. Leave the negativity for the loses.
