sonny and Kulu - not sure what’s happened but many times Kulu had opp to have a crack and bottled it. Sonny just doesn’t want to take anyone on anymore. If these two can get back their confidence of 2 seasons ago we are on to a winner.
Think you're being overly harsh. This wasn't about a lack of bottle. Brentford doubled up on the pair of them all game long.

It was a farce. Sonny was arguably tripped by Jensen. The ref was on the spot and didn't give it. Not a clear and obvious error so VAR should have butted out.
If Son had tripped him he would have fell forward not backwards. He tried to carry on saw he wasn’t going to get the ball and then fall over absolute joke.
For once I would like to see our manager call out the ref say it was an awful decision

What I would say is that Brentford were one of the worst teams for us to play, in terms of styles. Low block, aggressive counter attack. The two attackers pace caused us problems.

It was almost like watching contes spurs v man city.

I was really please how we changed it at half time, took control of the game.
I really don't think it can overstated how much of difficult first match Brentford away was for Ange's style; they're almost the perfect foil for the big teams that play aggressive, expansive football. Last year against the 'Big 6' plus Brighton they won 7, drew 4, and lost 3. That's damn impressive for a team that finished mid-table, although very nearly in the European places. Considering all of the context with how we showed up (disjointed preseason, learning new and wildly different system, just sold best player, four new starters, etc.), I'm very impressed with the performance and the result.

Also, I couldn't help thinking Brentford played like we did last year. Camped on the edge of their box, didn't want the ball, could hardly string 3 passes together, but did create 4 or 5 good chances on the counter and got a couple goals out of it. However, I know which of these two styles I want to spend a full season watching!

And then you see Onana tonight wipe out two Wolves players flapping at a ball he was nowhere near and no penalty given. Absolute farce.

Ref is very annoying

As many others have said, a lot of positives today.

The pace we have amongst our defenders are so refreshing.

Udogie, Bissouna and Maddison are superstars.

Get in some actual prolific goalscorers and we will cook.

And then he will be fined and be in the stands at our next game, just not worth it IMHO.

Agree with all of this but do think the chance richarlison had with his side footed shot that was blocked that kane would have scored by reversing the ball the other side low and hard

Then we win game 2-3
For context, it's well worth recalling that our prevous "World Class Striker" was notoriously slow to get into his stride at the start of each season, and rarely seemed to score in August.

Howard Webb is in charge - stonewall penalty not given against man yoo at old trafford shocker!!
That has been addressed today by Jon Moss who said the decision to not award a penalty was incorrect. He said it was a clear and obvious error and VAR also at fault..

That’ll help Wolves come the end of the season.

maybe instead of goal difference we use apologies given by the people overseeing the refs.

Every other major league in Europe has had a refereeing scandal.

with the vast amounts of money involved in our league I’d be very surprised if something dodgy wasn’t going on here

I feel this is the way refs are going, I get they don't want arguments or abuse but they need to have accountability, what's happening now is no accountability and if anybody questions a refs bad decision you get carded or banned. Basically a dictatorship now. I wouldn't mind if the refs actually explained themselves now but they don't do that either.

I get that but I'm just responding to comments that richarlison didn't have the service/wasn't involved

He had a chance that the very elite strikers would have scored
It's worth remembering how good Kane often was at the start of a season... He sometimes needed to get up to speed. He was also a permanent fixture in the team whereas Richy hasn't had that advantage.
I'm not saying Richy will reach Kanes giddy heights, but he's not had a consistent PL run in ages, it's a new system, new team mates, and the very start of a season. That's a lot to deal with and still be expected to live up to peak Kane.

See where he is in a couple of months.

And perhaps the most ridiculous penalty I've ever seen given, against BHA in their match versus Luton.
