I mean we can’t have it both ways…. We all call for 3 5 2 on here to get midfield control, control possession and to dominate the game, yet conte does this and we all say he’s thrown the game.
Conte can’t win.

I was more talking about the intensity and sitting back as opposed to the formation. 3-5-2 with the intent to keep our foot on their throats would’ve obliterated them

I get we can’t go balls to the wall for 90 mins every single game, it’s just frustrating when we let a team with 10 men back into the game when we could’ve of filled our boots

I take it you've got access to the training ground to make that assessment about Spence.
Youve lost me? I said Ive seen nothing that confirms he can't follow instructions. Nothing on any media outlet from Conte saying so. Why do I need access to the training ground?

Just rewatching some of the game now and bloody hell the ref was appalling.
I'm sure a few Frankfurt players could and should have gone for multiple yellows. Jakic and Hasebe spring to mind. Hasebe went off injured when he should have been sent off. Jakic should have been booked for the penalty foul then committed a few more as the game went on.

VAR would have looked and agreed with the ref.

If you pull a player back in that position it's going to be a red and a penalty.

Nah, Tomori may have "pulled" Mount, but it was clear Mount made the decision to go to the ground.

I would have given a penalty, but the red was far too much since he barely lightly grabbed his shoulder before deciding to let go and let the play ran its course.

Then by the rules, it's a red.

Mount also doesn't go to ground.
Tomori is all over the back of mount and made multiple attempts to pull tomori back.

Mount only goes to ground after stretching to get a shot away, that he couldn't, cleanly due to the pull backs.

If your issue is the rule, that's a different story, but the ref and VAR made the correct call by the rules of the game

Was at game last stand in block 502 west stand. Why did the club put about 200 Frankfurt fans in the block behind and to my left ? Friends and family ? Even so hardly a sensible thing to mix the supporters like that . It’s stayed generally well behaved but could have ended up with all sorts of problems. Don’t understand what was going on there . They need to look at that

There's no way that's been done intentionally.

I know there were a fair few tickets for sale in that area, so it's likely that Frankfurt bought them pretending to be "home" fans

That's what I thought as well.
But wouldn't they need to be members to get tickets?

Not if it went to general sale.

And even if it didn't, anyone can become a member if they're willing to pay the extra fee.

My issue is not the rule, my issue is that he didn't actually pull him or even affected his balance. I do think it should have been a penalty because it was idiotic for Tomori to place his hand over Mount, but don't kid yourself, it was a very soft penalty,

It's funny he says that because I've been posting precisely this behind the scenes for a while now, because that's exactly how I've been hearing it, and it's not only from one source.

"Behind the scenes"

Sort of cloak and dagger, 007 and all that?

Man you are funny sometimes Trix.

Conte said he's not ready. What do you think that means.
Not being ready could mean many things, and Conte had already spoken about Spence being a young player who was developing. An inability to follow instructions has a different connotation.

Conte's public statements re reasons for Spence's non-inclusion have been general and just referenced the continuing development of a young player and a lack of readiness at this stage. That's it.

I don't see how the above translates to an inability to follow instructions. It may well be true, as other itk posters have inferred, but Conte himself hasn't suggested that publicly yet.

Just generally imo, think Royal's got an unfair shake from many fans here. Sure we can and almost certainly will improve that RWB position in the future. But, he's generally been defensively solid and has also made improvements in his offensive game whether folks want to see it or not.

Spence, still very young, made the step up in level from a championship team, now playing at the top level in a new system under Conte, which has very defined and demanding responsibilities particularly defensively. It's going to take time whether it works out or not for Djed Spence. Hopefully, we'll find out sooner rather than later.

A disgrace? Really?
Sure, in the binary world of modern-day football speak - everything is either putrid or amazing. What we need is something on this forum that automatically translates the overly hyperbolic language that's becoming far too common here (and everywhere else too) to something more measured. So really "disgrace" here would become "to my mind underwhelming".

Oh if it could be made so..

100% People are projecting their own issues/prejudices/guesses and pretending that its fact. Conte feels he's not ready, nada mas.

Interesting. Worrying if he isn’t adapting or learning. I guess might be another failed scouting mission from us, particularly as his personal issues have been documented.
I hope he comes good but it’s not looking good for him if that’s the case. Conte won’t stand for it
I do hope you weren't spoke about in this way at his age. Everyone is different and mature at differing rates. Lets give him time to work with the best of footballers and coaches and then see how he is doing before we start criticising the scouting and him.
