Gutted. Not sure where else we're going to find a quality, premiership proven central midfielder for under £20m.

Only for £11 million too. Thats a decent price for his quality of player.

Ill be annoyed if we didnt push city to bring barry here.

It's a lot for someone with 12 months on their contract. I'm sure if there was the slightest possibility that we could get him we would have done the right thing

I agree kendall.

I have watched all of these comments this afternoon, and I have held off from commenting, people saying there is better out there, Harry will get someone better.

There is not much better out there at the moment with proven premiership experience, a supposed "Spurs Fan", than Gareth Barry.

Good move for City. Well done Mark Hughes.

guardian are quoting barry getting 100k a week. even if its around the 80k mark which is reportedly bridges wage that is well above what we can offer him so best of luck to the lad leave him at it. i reckon its a mistake for him as a player but as a person who could say no to that sort of cash

The wages on offer could be at least double at City.

It doesnt matter who City buy-wih Hughes in charge they've got no chance of success-he hasnt got a clue how to manage big players.

I did respect Gareth Barry...not sure I do now.

Maybe thats a bit harsh, he might actually believe in the project that city have got.

I reckon we did go all out for him but maybe the wages proved the match winner for city. IF this is true then that just sums up the type of person he is. I think he was our only hope at getting a quality proven PL cm and like kendall pointed out for under £20m
Come on Harry plan B

I must say fair play to City, getting their signings done early because I think that is a major advantage for a good start to the season

Absoloutely great news. Barry is not what we need. In a 442 formation Palacios is a far more dynamic DM and even the much maligned Jenas is a more dynamic CM than Barry. In a 451 he has his merits, but we don't play that way so fucking pointless.

For us he would have been another Bentley. Over hyped, Over priced and pointless playing the way we do.

I hope City want that big bumbaseed Kenwyn Jones too.
