Barry moves to the big City

Manchester City have completed the signing of Gareth Barry from Aston Villa in a £12million deal.
Barry has penned a five-year contract at Eastlands after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.
The England international's future at Villa has been the subject of speculation for some time, with Liverpool failing to sign him last summer in a much-publicised tug-of-war with Villa.
Barry's contract at Villa was due to expire next summer and although Villa offered him a new deal, he has opted to make the move to ambitious City.
The 28-year-old becomes City's first signing of the summer and his arrival is a major boost for City boss Mark Hughes as he looks to build a side capable of breaking into the top four.

Another player only after the money! I could understand him going to champions league club, but Man City? Yes they have the potential to be top 4 with all the money they have. But at moment do think they are a step down from Villa!

I think its a good move for him, they are going to be signing alot of players this summer and would be an interesting project to join. Looks like Tevez will be on his way there too, and with Ireland and Robinho they are building one hell of a good midfield.

-------------Ireland------------Barry--------------

SWP----------------Tevez--------------------Robinho

Wow! Also not to forget De jong, who along side Barry will provide a hell of a tough tackling midfield

If they get Tevez they will still need to buy another 2 quality strikers.

Fuck me, that's a huge signing. Bit of a blow for us though, was hoping we had a chance of getting him. I guess money talks.

It will be RSC next as he has been quoted as our target. Is it me or is City buying all the transfere targets we are talked about going for. its like they see us as there main competitor and buy up all the players that will improve our squad.

He won't be getting a good reception at Villa Park after this move. Yes he was very loyal to them but i don't think the fans would have had a problem had he gone to say Liverpool. I'm sure his 90k + wages will make up for being booed. Looks like Citeh want to get EPL proven players.

Haven't the fans already turned on him twice at villa? Cant see him getting a good reaction were ever he went

For 92 grand a week, I'm sure that's weighing heavy on his mind right now.

I found his new hat

I feel for the Villa fans, they lose their best player and captain to a side currently doing worse than them. It was unpleasent to see our two priced strikers leave last season but you can somewhere understand that ambitious players want to play for the best clubs in the world. I'm sure it sucked for Wigan when Palacios and Heskey left in january. But it is, at least, understandable. Spurs and Villa are better teams than Wigan.

City might play fantastic football and present themselves as genuine contenders next season - but they could just aswell not. Lord knows they have not impressed this season. I don't know what kind of patience the owners possess but after reading some City forums it's pretty obvious that the fans have none. Richards needs replacing, Dunne needs replacing, Onuoha fantastic season - still needs replacing, Bridge a few months after buying him and making him the best payed fullback in the world... needs replacing. I think it's a sad state of affairs really.
