Tottenham did pretty well. :)

Goalkeeper: Joe Hart [Manchester City]The England No.1 was promoted to first-choice stopper for the Citizens by Roberto Mancini at the start of the 2010-11 campaign, in what was seen as a surprise decision at the time, in favour of the more experienced Shay Given.
However, Hart has proved his doubters wrong and has played an integral part both last season and this, in making City one of the most tight-knit defences in the country.
Right-back: Kyle Walker [Tottenham & Aston Villa]
The 21-year-old defender spent 2010-11 on loan at Villa Park, and following an impressive campaign, Walker excelled in the European U21 Championships for Stuart Pearce's young England side, and was named in the team of the tournament.
This season, Harry Redknapp has given the attacking full-back his first-team chance at Tottenham, and Walker hasn't disappointed with a number of lung-busting displays.
Centre-back: Vincent Kompany [Manchester City]
The 25-year-old Belgian stopper has become the bedrock of Manchester City's defence, and was handed the club captaincy at the start of the 2011-12 campaign.
Kompany is quick, strong and powerful in the air, meaning he has all the attributes needed to succeed in the Barclays Premier League, and his leadership qualities will prove invaluable to the Citizens this season.
Centre-back: Fabricio Coloccini [Newcastle United]
The 29-year-old Argentine international has been one of the most consistent inclusions in the Newcastle first-team, and proved to be one of the club's standout performers on their return to the top-flight last season.
Following the sale of Kevin Nolan last summer, Coloccini was named club captain for the 2011-12 season, and the South American stopper has been central to one of the Barclays Premier League's meanest defences this year, conceding a mere 8 goals in the Magpies' first 11 games.
Left-back: Leighton Baines [Everton]
In the 2010–11 campaign Baines played every minute of Everton's Premier League games, as well as scoring seven goals in all competitions. His contribution was rewarded with the club's Player of the Season, Players' Player of the Season, and Goal of the Season awards.
This year, the 27-year-old has continued to turn in consistent performances for the Toffees, and is one of David Moyes' most valuable assets at Goodison Park.
Right-midfield: Luis Nani [Manchester United]
After his best season to-date in a Manchester United shirt, the 25-year-old winger was shortlisted for the PFA Young Player of the Year award last season, and was named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for the first time.
Nani was awarded for his outstanding season in which he scored 10 goals in all competitions, as he was voted the club's Players' Player of the Year.
He started the 2011-12 campaign as he finished the last, with a brace against Manchester City in the FA Community Shield, and in November the Portuguese international was one of just four Barclays Premier League players shortlisted for the prestigious FIFA Ballon d'Or.
Centre-midfield: Yaya Toure [Manchester City]
In just 18 months since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium the 28-year-old Ivorian international has written himself into Manchester City folklore with a goal and man of the match performance against local rivals Manchester United in last season's FA Cup semi-final.
Toure followed that up with the only goal in the FA Cup final to help the Citizens end their 35-year wait for a trophy.
The multi-talented midfielder has continued his fine form in 2011-12, showing his versatility as a holding player, but equally effective in a more advanced role, and Toure's efforts were rewarded as he was crowned African Footballer of the Year for 2011.
Centre-midfield: Scott Parker [Tottenham & West Ham]
The 31-year-old midfielder was a standout performer in a West Ham side that was eventually relegated from the Barclays Premier League last season, and his efforts were recognised as he was placed on a six strong shortlist for the prestigious PFA Player of the Year Award.
Parker missed out on the PFA award but was named the Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year for 2011.
On August transfer deadline day, Parker completed a £5.5million move to Tottenham, citing the need to be playing in the top-flight to prolong his England career, and has gone on to earn rave reviews for his performances at White Hart Lane this season.
Left-midfield: Gareth Bale [Tottenham]
The 22-year-old Welsh international has had a sensational year, and has become an even better player since his brilliant game in the San Siro against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League last season.
With an abundance of pace, and deadly crossing ability, Bale has proved a nightmare for some of the best defences around, and has also shown his versatility playing not only wide-left, but on the right-flank as well as through the middle.
The wing wizard was honoured with the PFA Player of the Year award, as voted for by his peers back in April, and if Tottenham are to realise their dream of winning the title in 2012, then Bale will be an integral part in their search for glory.
Striker: Luis Suarez [Liverpool]
Despite making recent headlines for the wrong reasons, the 24-year-old Uruguayan international can reflect positively on his first twelve months in English football.
Suarez has been a revelation for Liverpool since his £22.8million move to Anfield last January, and has more than filled the void left by Fernando Torres.
With goals, work-rate and team-ethic to boot, the South American sensation has proved invaluable to Reds boss Kenny Dalglish, and will be a huge miss while he sees out his suspension in the coming weeks and months.
Striker: Robin Van Persie [Arsenal]
The 28-year-old's scoring record in 2011 has been nothing short of sensational, and the Dutchman surpassed Thierry Henry by netting 35 league goals for Arsenal, just one behind Alan Shearer's Barclays Premier League record.
Van Persie has always scored goals, but prior to last year the biggest question hanging over the Gunners striker, is how could Arsene Wenger keep his talisman fit.
Thankfully he seems to have overcome those injury problems, and if Arsenal are to achieve success this season, then Van Persie will have a huge part to play at the Emirates Stadium.
Substitutes:
Wojciech Szczesny [Arsenal] | Micah Richards [Man City] | Nemanja Vidic [Manchester United]
David Silva [Manchester City] | Luka Modric [Tottenham] | Demba Ba [Newcastle & West Ham]
Dimitar Berbatov [Manchester United]

I was a fan of Suarez before he joined Liverpool, and have followed his performances since he came to the premiership, but there is no way he's been better than VDV.

I do think Suarez is a good footballer, but also a complete fucking wanker who I wouldn't want anywhere near our team.

Has Kaboul not been better?
You've got to remember that people base their opinions off the first two games of the year.

"Oh, yeah, I saw Kaboul. Spurs need to strengthen their defense, he's nowhere near good enough. That'll sound right and make me look smart. I'm such a twat."

... and there you go. That's their thought process.

Team of 2011 with Luis (i can't score for toffee) suarez? No chance. Coloccini has had an excellent season so far for a Newcastle team with a good defensive record. Last season he was poor but its tough thinking of other quality centre backs.

Still shocks me how people rave about Suarez and yet his scoring record with Liverpool is shite. Ironically, despite his general ****ishness, he'd be perfect as a platoon with Lennon.
