Harry was at the Milk Cup draw in Belfast today.

Naturally asked him about Gareth Barry - he said he thinks he'll go to Liverpool but we're trying our best for him.

Wished him luck for the season, and that was my lot.

Maybe just a change of scenery. If he feels he needs a new challenge then I would imagine we would be one of the few clubs he would actually take seriously.

we have to remember that Harry when asked about Defoe said he's probably off to Villa (when Pompy bought him from us), when Harry was asked about Palacios he said he'll probably go to Man City, it's a standard Harry reaction to any player we're linked to.
The confirmation that we're in for Barry pleases me, let's hope that Liverpool don't go full steam ahead for him and we pull off a coup!

I can't understand why Harry would just tell this dude we going in for Barry. I think as a supporter he would have asked what plans Harry has for us and Harry could have mentioned our/his ambitions but to start naming targets? :shrug:

Another thing to take into consideration regarding Harry's reply, as mentioned on COYS :

When asked about Defoe Harry said he's probably off to Villa (when Pompey bought him from us), when asked about Palacios he said he'll probably go to Man City. Seems to be a standard reply from the gaffer.

Barry and his entire family (give or take a couple) are massive Spurs fans. Why this would entice him to the club is another thing, given that we aren't in Europe and we are behind Aston Villa in the Premiership standings. However, a new challenge could be all he wants, and the potential to be at a club who have had a massive turnaround in fortunes, league position wise, since Harry took over.

We'll see. I'm not holding my breath on the whole Barry to Spurs link, but it's certainly nice knowing how high we're aiming at the moment. Palacios alongside Barry would be a healthy pairing, too.
