Yes German crowds make a lot of noise but it’s constant noise all the time whereas English crowds ebb and flow with the game. You get passion and can see how it lifts teams. The German side wil sound exactly the same if they’re attacking or defending, 2-0 up or 4-0 down.

Plus if you look closely it’s generally only one stand making all the noise. Take this game, the crowd down the side are all standing quietly but noise is behind the goal we’re attacking into

I'd agree with that. Having lived over there I've been to a fair few games at various levels. At first you think it's great but 10 mins in and it's all just white noise/a constant rhythmic drone and you tune out to it completely to the point where you don't really notice it.

What I am jealous of is the relationship between clubs and their fans. The overall matchgoing fan experience is much better over there, not least the ticket prices.
