This morning, I said yes as its been a great season and if you offered me 2nd at the beginning of the year, i'd have bit your hand off. Didnt post or vote though. But I've been rethinking it. Now I say fuck that. We're not 1st. We're 2nd. Why cash out? Go for the title. Audere est Facere. To dare is to do.

“It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory.” - Bill Nicholson

That being said, I'm a pessimistic asshole and still dont think we have the slightest chance at the title. I still want to go for it though

Second would represent a remarkably successful season.

But no.

Winning the league is a genuine possibility. Winning the Premier League. Something Arsenal haven't done in over a decade, and something Liverpool have never done. We'd have genuine, bona fide bragging rights for the first time in multiple generations.

If that's a genuine possibility (and it is with this team, this momentum, and this team spirit) then why would you throw that away for the opportunity to simply have an excellent season? We should finish top four regardless, and qualify for the CL.

Nobody remembers a team finishing second as anything other than 'the nearly year'.

For years we have had the title of nearly men now its about time we stepped up and become the men, we can win this league.

One game at a time. We beat city on Sunday and leicester fail to beat arsenal and we are solid favourites if no other reason that we have the momentum.

I wouldn't cash out, let's go on and win the bloody thing! If we did, it would go down in history as one of the greatest achievements in modern football! It would lay the foundations for another period of greatness for our already great club!

No. Vegas or bust.

There's no point in settling for 2nd. If we're in with a shot to win the damn thing then let's go for it.

Won't matter as much as you think if we continue to see Poch improve players at the rate he has under his coaching methods.

And we're clearly seeing how much more important the collective is as opposed to a collection of individual talents.

Oh, I totally agree - I don't think we'll be targeting any big name players anyway. Just making the point that those who think is having champions league over Man U or Chelsea will make a difference to how attractive we are are in for a shock.

The beauty of having such a young talented squad under the a coach who can improve them both individually and collectively, is that we don't need to pay out for over priced finished articles. We can develop are own team of stars who will grow together.

I said cash out only because I think the PL may be too premature for our lads...they are ahead of where I thought they would be. Definitely think top 4 was in reach at the start of the season but winning the PL is field of dreams for me. Ah WTF......bring it on!!!!!!!!!! :D

This gets said every single season. Next season City and Chelsea will have new managers, so will Utd more than likely and Liverpool have a complete rebuild to do.

Yes they will all spend money but that hasn't helped any of them this season.

I voted to take 2nd. As nice as believing we can win the league is we have only finished 4th twice in the PL era and played CL football once. With the extra revenue from CL football I'd back us to kick on next season over the rest.

I'm not really talking about them ( the teams mentioned above) just throwing money around, i believe they will all get a better manager who will yes spend, but also get the best out of the ones they already have.
Don't get me wrong 2nd would be mental, but if i had to risk it for 1st i would as i feel we can do it....
What Leicester is achieving has helped us, it sort shows our players that it can be done.

What about our team this year (the best team we've had since the days of Hoddle and Ardiles), suggests that we're not going to improve. As I said before, year in year out some people kept saying, "we'll be lucky to get top 6 this year" yet we consistently do, with I might ad, inferior teams to what we currently have.

We probably will improve, but will we be in this position with 13 games left? not sure are we? but we are now and for the first time im my lifetime i really believe we can do it...we have all the ingredients at a time when our rivals have problems.

Player sales go back for manager to use. We haven't used any other funds for over 7 years now

Take your agenda to a different thread. Player sales and purchases are not for discussion here.

I voted no to cashing out. Something about the season that just tells me we are ready. We've showed time and time again we can mix it up there with the so called big teams. I wouldn't have been surprised if we had no defeats this season such has been the quality of our performances. Unfortunately we were unlucky v United, endured a crazy 45 minutes v Newcastle when really we should have been out of sight and we're robbed by the team top of the league.

Shit if we had beaten Leicester or even walked away with a point instead of the defeat we would be no more than 2 points behind them.

One defeat for them and one victory for us puts us within touching distance. Once they lose one it gives us a huge boost. It gives them the knock in confidence that could be fatal. Then we go marching on.

Never in my lifetime, the way football has been progressing in recent years, did I ever think we would win the league. We have the opportunity this season. No one remember's who finished second.

Let's win the fucking thing in what is meant to be Leicester's fairytale season.

Did anyone put actual money on us to win the title at the start of the season?
What odds? What can you cash out for right now?

If I'd put a score on it I would cash out now. IIRC it was about 33/1 in August wasn't it?

I can't see us losing another match in the Premier League. All our remaining games are winnable.

Therefore all we have to do is hope Leicester drop a few points along the way.

I have a feeling they'll drop 7 of their last nine. And they'll drop others along the way. We're right in there with a hell of a shout!

Most of us have never seen us win the league....

Next season City,Chelsea,Utd and possible Lpool will be a force...this may be our last chance for many years.

Fuck cashing out.

Thats what everyone said last year too.....

I don't think we'll win the title but I still wouldn't 'cash out' at this stage even if you were offering me actual cash to do so. Awkward snooker analogy coming up:

I see the title as a tricky long pot on a frame-winning ball, and our attempts to win it as a shot-to-nothing. Winning the tile would be sinking the pot; finishing 2nd/3rd would be missing the pot but the cueball running safe; finishing 4th would be missing the pot and leaving your opponent with a difficult chance; and finishing 5th or below would be missing the pot and leaving your opponent with an easy chance. [groan, this is getting more in-depth than I was planning]

Why would you take the certainty of missing the pot for the guarantee of running safe [2nd place]? The only reason that stands up to any logic is that you think that we are likely to screw the pooch and finish in 5th or below, because the footballing rewards for 3rd place are literally identical to 2nd place, and the footballing rewards for 4th place are only marginally worse than those for 2nd place.

Like I say, my gut tells me that we won't win the League this season, but while we're still in with a shot and (IMO) probably slightly-more-likely-than-not to finish in the top 4 why would you throw away the chance for glory that a lot of us have never seen in exchange for being guaranteed something (CL football) that we have a reasonable chance of ahieving anyway?

I put £2 on paddy power and a free £10 bet on William hill, both at 150/1 at start of season. The paddy power one is offering me £40.16 to cash out now I can't see the w.hill one. I don't wanna cash out.

The question would not arise if it wasn't for the champions league. How can someone want to take second place when they have a very realistic chance of being first? It defies logic.

Let you know after Sunday ;)

Agree, I think a lot is balancing on sunday.

Win - and we are right at it, nibbling at leicesters heels.
Lose - and i think ManCity will go on and win the league.
Draw - doesnt change much...apart from potentially losing ground to leic/arse
