We probably will improve, but will we be in this position with 13 games left? not sure are we? but we are now and for the first time im my lifetime i really believe we can do it...we have all the ingredients at a time when our rivals have problems.

Oh, I do agree, this is the best chance we've had in a long time to win the title. But I also think there's a shift in power taking place. It's been happening gradually over the last 2-3 years. It's something that happens every so often. It happened with Liverpool and new 'powers' took over, but there was a few years of transition for that to establish, similar to whats happening now. I'm not saying it's going to be us that dominates the next 10 plus years, but why not? All the ingredients are there.
My only concern is obviously, the football landscape has changed considerably, with the City's and the Chelsea's of this world. But as the has been shown, money is no guaranty of success. Liverpool have been behind us for most of the last 6-7 years.

It's a simple risk/reward calculation. The risk is we fail to get a Top 4 finish. The reward is a league title. Both are fairly unlikely with us currently 9/2 to win the title and 7/2 to finish outside the Top 4.

The reward side of the equation pits a certain Top 4 finish against a possible League title. While a Top 4 finish was what we were all hoping for at the beginning of the season with its significant reward of CL qualification which allows us to attract better players, the financial benefits are slightly mitigated by the increase in TV revenue from the premiership. On the other side of the coin we have a realistic chance of winning the Premier League title. The ****ing title you ****ing pussies! Why would you give that up just to finish in the Top 4? Who are you? Daniel Levy? Arsene Wenger? To the one third of you who voted to cash out might I remind you that the club's motto is 'Audere est Facere' and not "Forever Mediocre".

I don't understand this risk?

To make sure we get top4 we have to win games, to win the title we have to win games, this whole concept is a load of bollocks. Anybody saying they'd cash out is just being a pussy and are scared they'll be taken the piss out of if we don't win the title.

Remind me again what trophy we get for finishing second?

Also you might want to ask Steven Gerrard what he thinks of his runners up medal for Liverpool the other year.

The question would not arise if it wasn't for the champions league. How can someone want to take second place when they have a very realistic chance of being first? It defies logic.
Blanchflower would turn in his grave if he saw this thread.

Cash out?
Never.

In it to Win it!

That's not to say that if we fail in this endeavour and finish 2nd I wouldn't be ecstatic, but I'm not giving up on the league until it's officialy and mathematically done and dusted.

This weekend is huge though...

There really aren't a lot of people doing that at all. There's just a lot of people who think that being in the position we're in now (probably more likely-than-not to finish in the top 4) there would be no reason to settle for 2nd given than even if we didn't win the title we'd have a great chance of getting CL football anyway next season in any of league positions 2, 3 and 4.

I would rather risk it and go for winning it and end up finishing 5th than cashing out and taking second. No one remembers who came second. That means I will be annoyed if we play full strength teams in EL and FA cup
