Our only real winger and you want to sell him? He's only 20 and has had to play without rest since he was 17, that isnt right and most players will clearly burnout. He needs some time off to mentally get back into football. The summer will do him the world of good and he will be back to his old self next season.

Also some support/competition to take the load off next season will be bought in by ramos im certain.

I wouldn't sell him. I do wonder why Lennon has been used so conservatively recently though.

Fabregas is a month younger and has played nearly 50 hours more in league games alone in the last three seasons—and I doubt Lennon covers any more ground or works harder.

We could buy 16 Aaron Lennons and make them all run at Ashley Cole for that price.

I know this is a hypothetical thread, but no fucking way should we even consider selling him......just yet. He's 21 FFS, and one of the best wingers in the league. OK, his crossing can do with some improving, but, I swear someone made a thread about this; it really isn't all that bad. He's still up there when it comes to assists and putting dangerous balls into the box. Stooopid idea, in my opinion.:duh:

We need to buy another right winger, not replace our best one.

I'd rather we just bought someone who'd play him in behind the full back like Carrick used to...

Taarabt isn't really a winger, and has only recently begun to understand the meaning of 'Pass the fucking ball you tit!' The ressies reports suggest Rose is highly promising, but I don't expect to see him getting a few turns from the bench until next season, and he's a lefty anyway.

I'm sure they'll both have a season being the best thing since sliced bread and then be denounced as total wastes of space.

Hasn't Rose has actually been playing in a central midfield role for the under 18's & the ressies?

Perhaps Ramos thinks that Taarabt and Rose have more potential?

He is, but we'd have to pay big bucks—at least £12m. Also, he's not really a winger in the way Lennon is.

Seriously you cant compare fabregas to any other 20yo footballer, maybe ronaldo but thats it. That argument is completely null because we're talking about normal footballers here not ridiculously talented freaks.

I agree he's been playing crap recently but selling him would be a bit knee jerk and keeping up with our fickle fans policy! Go spurs fans go you are awesome!

True.

But maybe we can entice Bentley away, somehow. We need two right wingers/midfielders, anyway. Two quality players in all positions and all that... He'd keep Lennon on his toes, and we'd have two great and very different options in that poswition.

Next season Steed could be the option on that side with Bale and an other (possibly Capel or Gilberto) on the left.

Of course, I totally forgot about Steed. I still wouldn't be against the transfer of Bentley.

Yep once we buy a strating LW steed can provide good backup for both wings with gilberto/bale also around. My god we're going to have an abundance of left footers? at spurs?? WTF Bale, Gilberto, Assou Ekotto(or new LB), new LW! wow

They are freaks (and you could throw in Messi, of course). You simply won't get too many players like that in a generation. But surely burn-out is a physical thing entirely divorced from talent.

I agree that Lennon's failure to become a world-beater is no reason to get on his back, and writing him off (as some do, it seems) is totally ridiculous. The irony is in the question. Would we sell him for £16m? Well, maybe we would. But that would mean a top manager of a top team thought he was worth £16m. Think on that, some of you.

I haven't read through the thread but for what it's worth I think anyone laying in to Lennon to hard is being a bit unfair. Once a winger is tagged it becomes som much harder for them to constantly beat people. They are usually double teamed, and go through a period of adjustment where they learn how to adapt to the extra attention. If you watch Chritiano Ronaldo you'll see that he really doesn't do that much "wingy" stuff anymore but has converted himself into an "inside right" (only SS57 may remember what this was).

I think Lennon has contributed this season. I'm sure his stats would compare favourably to SWP, Bently, MGP, Pennant, Hleb, Rosicky, Eboue, or even Giggs probably.

For me it's not about having someone able to find him in space it's about him learning how to look for the ball and work hard when the opposition have the ball. And under Ramos I have seen some improvement in these areas.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who recalls what an inside-right is/was, but that's a pretty good description of how Ronaldo plays.
