all clubs need money.
none of the big clubs have 5 foot players yapping at opponents ankles. we want tall athletic guys who aren't pushed off the ball as easily as Lennon.

I mentioned in another thread what frustrated me about Lennon. If you're one of the quickest player in the Prem, and that is your main strength, why don't you use it? He doesn't need Ronaldo's step overs, all he needs to do is wait for the right time, make his run round the back of the full back, and whoevers on the ball will hopefully thread him through or chip it over the top for him to run onto, how many left backs are gonna catch him up? I hardly ever see him doing this and I cannot for the life of me inderstand why. But I wouldnt sell him, unless we already had a cheaper, better alternative lined up.

You're expecting Jenas or Zokora to play through balls and forward passes?:rofl:

imagine what we could get with 16 mill... Leroy Lita?

I'd love to sell him and get David Silva or Queresma.

If our new coaching team can't turn Lennon into some kind of creative goalscoring force I would really question their credentials. He's got a natural ability you can't teach; I would have thought the passing/crossing stuff could be.

Lennon has suffered the loss of Carrick more than anyone. We play such slow attacking play at times, that it is impossible to utilise him. He won't be sold, he's one of Englands brightest young prospects, and is still young enough to improve his game a lot. His work rate has improved enormously, and I would argue that his final ball has as well. With a midfield to complement him rather than negate him he can be a top winger and a useful outlet for us. I think it's to second guess Ramos after part a season with Jol's players. Next year is the test.

Yeah you'd have to take that. Love him or hate him you have to take that sort of money because all he is is potential. His current level is about 6/7 million, city would be baying 10 million for potential which we don't know is there or not. Could go either way but remember Simon Davies? Another really promising right winger who had a GOOD CROSS whom United bid 10 million for only to be rejected. He then got badly injured and has never been the same. This is granted not his fault but imagine if Lennon gets badly injured again? talented or not he's rendered useless then because Lennon without his pace is absolutely nothing. You have to take 16 million when you don't know how good he's gonna be. No sentiment involved would say the same for Hudd and Bale.

16m would be very hard to refuse. I'd be highly suprised if we didn't signed two new wingers in the summer, and I just get the feeling Ramos hasn't been impressed with Lennon, which is hardly suprising.

Someone just needs to tell the kid he can't pass or cross and should just run with it. Preferably towards the oppositions goal.

Right.Selling a 20 year old player based on bad form. How about selling the shite we don't need first?.

Rocha,Gardner,Kaboul,Boateng,Robinson,Tainio(better than zokora IMO), Stalteri,ghaly.....i could go on....
Yes please do....add Jenas but withdraw Kaboul and Boateng.....you haven't got a clue on what these players are capable of.
Kaboul had to play with Dawson.......and we know that Dawson needs a babysitter of his own even though he has played ALOT of games for us.

We haven't got a working midfield so it can't be easy as a promising player coming to England from Germany and make an impact......especially when not even making the squad until Ramos got here.

I think it is less of selling Lennon and more that he want's to leave to progress his career. He along with Berbatov, Bent, Taarabt and Keane rely on a creative midfield that probes and threads. It's blantantly obvious to all that our current crop of midfield favourites do not possess this attribute and hence we do not create the opportunities that these guys thrive upon.

We have proven this year even with a poor midfield the ability to score 50 Premier league goals. with a bit of midfiled guile this could be 75!

Funny this, but I used to have this conversation with my dad about Lennons value a couple of years ago. At the time i would tell him that if someone wanted to buy him from us it would take about £25m, because we would be unwilling sellers and he was probably worth about £20m. Now though, when assked if we should take £16m for him i can't help thinking that we should bite their hand off. He has got worse and worse over the last 2 seasons, to the point where his contribution to the team is questioned. In his first season he was brilliant. He would run at defenders with skill and always try to take them on, usually succeding. Now days though he won't even try to beat a man, prefering to pass inside.

I have to say, I don't think he'll ever become the player we hoped he would as he has a major flaw to his game. He can't kick a ball. I know it sounds stupid to say this about a professional footballer, but it's the truth. And if he can't do these things at his age (20 - but with 4 seasons top flight football under his belt) he never will. I mean, come on, we're talking about kicking the ball, the most fundermental part of the game. He should be an expert at that part of the game since age 14 at worst.

Despite my above comments and money asside i would like to keep him as he is at the sort of level we need our squad players to be at and he could come in a do a job if our 1st choice RM was unavailable. I do however believe we need 4 new 1st choice midfielders next season. None of ours would get into any of the top 4 starting line-ups and as such are not good enough to take us to where we want to be.
