I know I’m alone in this but i just cant bring myself to care too much about this. Maybe if we make the final I’ll be up for it but right now I care a whole lot more about a week from tomorrow than either today or Sunday. Must win next week. Carabao is at the same level as the EL for me. 2 competitions i really dont care all that much about that should not be played this season. Play a mix of the kids and rotation first teamers today and sunday to get them experience.

Had we not won any type of trophy for 13 years an FA Cup for 30 years!!!! or a European trophy for 37 years!!!!! I think a lot of people would agree with you

Unfortunately having such a pathetic trophy haul in the last 30 years means we are desperate for any and all silverware

Being on this side of the pond (in London) as per the poster above is hugely different to the level of banter, spite and downright hate you get from fans of other clubs. Even going into work can be either a joy or something to dread depending on the result. Always plenty of Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham fans if you work in or around London.

Yankspurs I’d equate it to me following an NFL team (Detroit Lions for me) - I have lots of mates who follow the NFL (I even played American football and coached it for 30 years in the UK (Really Lol). While the pisstaking and banter is a good laugh but can be annoying, it’s not the same level of emotion as It is with Spurs. Not even close. You can flip that around at your end for your local US sports team.

Winning a trophy is massively important, even a league cup.

Nice to see rival fans already moving the goalposts if we win this competition to that we need to win the league as opposed to merely winning trophies.

Dunno why some in the fanbase decide to be choosing beggars when it comes to trophies, this club desperately needs more. Helps create a winning mentality we all know we need

I hope mourinho just shows the players their last 16 results but hide the opponents..

Also every fan that isn't a spurs fans would love us to get beat. That should also be emphasised just before ko

Marine at the weekend rather than Villa actually sets up well for us -- I think if Jose had to decide between risking the first team today with a massive PL match in 4 days vs. playing an 8th division team we could have some headaches.

But come on, Jose knows that bringing even the Carabao Cup to Spurs would be a momentous achievement and could serve as the catalyst for a huge turnaround in this club's fortunes. There will be some rotation but I'd be shocked if close to our strongest team doesn't play, this is a cup semi final.

Amazing tactical genius by Jose. Masterminding byes for a few rounds then making sure we stuffed division two Orient ... oh that was another bye. Then a marvellously adventurous penalty win against Chelsea; followed by a startling victory against the mighty Stoke.

Now of course we have the famous giants of Brentford to overcome and yet another final for Jose.

Makes you tingle with excitement. The Glory, Glory days are back again

The beauty about winning trophies is noone every remembers who you beat to get there.

This might not mean much to you lot. The fear of two lockdown birthdays is real (April). I turn 30 this year and on top of societal pressure to have your life sorted by that milestone I may have to deal with another lockdown? That's why the final that Sunday is vital to me. My birthday is the 23rd (Friday) and so Spurs need to give me something to be excited about.

Again that might not mean anything to you guys, but I have very little to be excited for currently.

Of all the things that have changed Liverpool since Klopp arrived, including some really key signings such as Van Dijk and all the work that Klopp, as a very good manager, has put in, nothing was as important to them as beating us in the CL final. And let's face it, we could easily have won that game because they were shitting themselves throughout.

Up until that point they were essentially perpetual losers. Very good, and always close to that finish line, but they never quite got over it.

Once they did - just - then everything changed and they didn't look back.

Of course the EFL cup isn't the Champions League, but we desperately need to win something and Jose knows this better than anyone. That is why he is saying that the EFL cup is the most important competition we are in right now, because it should come down to a one-off final game against a big Manchester club. Only winning can really change the mentality of a club, and Liverpool was the perfect example of that.

We must not underestimate this lot. But I trust Jose makes this clear.
Really believe we have the quality to smash them.

Our last three League Cup semi finals have been quite poor regarding performances.

2008 vs Burnley - under Redknapp

Beat them 4-1 in the first leg but then completely didn't turn up for the second leg thinking it was over and ended up losing 3-0 - if there was away goal we'd have been out. Fortunately, Pav and Defoe came on to score key goals.

2015 vs Sheff Utd - under Poch

Poor first leg but managed to win 1-0. Went up 1-0 in the first half and then didn't really trouble the League One side too much until they put the shits up us and scored twice in 3 mins to make it 2-2 on aggregate. Fortunately, Eriksen scored to kill it. But another lacklustre performance.

2018/19 vs Chelsea - under Poch

Started the first leg really well, yet didn't play greatly and Chelsea had the better chances. Second leg we started really poorly and went two-down quite quickly. Responded late but lost on pens.

As you can see we make a bit of a meal of these occasions and don't like to do things simply, even when we get a nice cushion/advantage.

Hopefully, Jose can influence the game in a professional and commanding perspective to ensure we do the job well.

Let's hope we mirror the second leg vs Arsenal in 2008.

IIRC both Son and Kane missed the second leg and Lucas was on the bench. We were completely reliant on Llorente!
