What the pundits & media are saying about us

It was a little bit galling at times listening to the pre-match discussion between Jenas, Hargreaves, and Ferdinand because it highlighted the somewhat elitist mentality vs the fan. Jenas, sitting there dejectedly with his arms by his side and his head down, tired of explaining it, whilst the other two explain the way of the world to him.

Ferdinand and Hargreaves have both won many trophies playing for the top clubs in the world. Both of them have the same opinion of us as Gary Neville, which is that we should stay in our lane. Not in a nasty way, but their counter to Jenas' argument of the fans wanting to see the club win things was "but that's not Tottenham". For me it's an arrogant thing to say, that trophies and accolades are the property of the super clubs and there for those clubs to fight over. Yes we want to see nice football, but we also want to win. The former should lead to the latter, but not always.

I don't think they truly understand the feelings within our fanbase, the feeling that we were so close to pushing over that line and never delivering on that promise. The feeling that we have wasted the greatest talent this club has ever developed by not surrounding him with players of a similar calibre. That we reached a peak and have been gradually sliding backwards instead of solidifying ourselves near the top of the league. This is where my discontent and anger stems from. We have wasted time by trying to take shortcuts.

I do think they are right for asking what type of club we want to be. Hargreaves had it right when saying that Levy needs to decide how we want to play and then hiring the coach and the players to play like that. Their comments on our signings were also spot on, but then that comes back to my last paragraph. We have spent good money on players that never made the step up, bought quality in positions of strength and dross in positions of weakness. Hence why we have conceded more goals than all but the relegation candidates.

Fancy getting infuriated?

Hargreaves and in particular Ferdinand come across as completely arrogant pricks here. Ferdinand is basically saying we’re shit and always will be. He doesn’t know our history regarding trophies too it seems. And Hargreaves using Arsenal as an example of a club we’re trying to chase…..

Yeah let’s just settle for second best for the rest of our lives. They forget that Chelsea and City are only where they are because of money and Utd were pretty shit for 20 years before Fergie turned them around. Clubs can go through shit like we have.

I’d hate to spend time with Ferdinand. Always comes across as a smarmy arrogant **** and this doesn’t get said enough.

It's not just football; I think life in general is like that. The elites try to preserve their position mostly through systematic as opposed to meritocratic means. Investment banks, tech companies etc.

The underdogs have to be significantly better over a long period to get into their club.

We've only knocked on that door once over the past 2 decades with the Poch-team. That's not long enough to shift opinion.

Therefore what Ferdinand says makes sense. Him, as well as the elites, have no interest or sympathy in those they dont consider their competitors (i.e: us).

not really too bothered by it.

of course, like most football fans in their 30s they won't have any idea of history before the PL started. They've got no concept outside of their own little premier league bubble.

Football desperately needs a modern day Brian Clough to emerge and break the hegemony of the Old guard and new Oil Slave guard.

Ive never taken to Ferdinand.

He's despised in Leeda for his behaviour to get a transfer to United.

Skipped a drug test.

Jumped into bed with another woman months after his wife passed away (rumours he was cheating on her anyway).

Consistently bangs on about "it's about trophies" in pretty much evey discussion.

Consistently bad takes. Remember his Mike Ashley comments?

One of those people who will always try to level up despite it trampling over others.

His opinions mean shit.

As for Hargreaves. He needs to decide whether he wants to speak with a Canadian, German or Mancunian accent!

That wouldn't be the same Owen Hargreaves who was completely owned by Tom Huddlestone the only time he ever played at WHL (2nd Feb 2008) and was substituted at half time. Or would it?

If that's the general sense of opions among people in football about our club perhaps we ought to be honest with ourselves and realise that we need to change it rather than be upset at them.
Remember that if its true then that's what the top players think too which damages us in our transfer dealings.

O'Hara told Grosvernor Sport: "If I’m Harry Kane, I’m leaving.

"I would have looked at pre-season, where Spurs have only played two games so far and seen that it’s a shambles.

"I'd see that the club haven’t attracted any top-quality players and say, ‘Do you know what? I’m going to go to Bayern Munich'.

"It’s got to the point now where enough is enough – if Spurs aren’t going to compete, then he needs to leave.

“I just think Spurs have fallen away from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.

"The only saving grace that the club has is that they still have Kane and Heung-min Son.

"But if you look at the rest of the team, it’s no better than West Ham.

"Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and even Aston Villa are all going to be better than them next season.

"They’re attracting top players, but Spurs are not - some of the players that they’ve signed are just embarrassing really.”

Add a couple of CBS and I totally disagree that we look anything like a West Ham.

There is quality in the squad and I think we will do quite well next season

Jamie O’Hara is full of shit. Has he said this in an article, or are the Scum spinning off a clickbait article based off his trolling on talksport. Because that’s what this reads like, him saying outrageous things to get people to phone a premium rate number and tell him he is talking bollocks.

He’s the football equivalent of babestation.

O'Hara is no better than some of the knee jerkers you find here or on Twitter.

There is no middle ground with him.

Its either "brilliant" or "a shambles".

He just invites the internet to mock him.

Which he does really well & therefore his employers keep paying him. We all know what he is but fair play for a bang average player like him to have a proper career in the media , given his limits. Plus he is Spurs, whether you like him or not. I prefer to not listen to Talksh1te no more, too many gooner ****s & arseholes on there for me

Never once have I put hand to cock for O’Hara. Nearest to that would be Kate O’Mara in the 60’s but I would’ve been minus 10 years old and physically incapable.
