This is our opportunity to prove every pundit the BBC could find wrong, cause we're gonna finish in the top 4 again!!

Would love to do it just to wipe the smug looks off all their faces!

I love that we're basically being written off. Best thing for us. Let us be the underdogs and the show everyone that a steady squad that has developed an understanding and camaraderie is a challenge for anyone.

In fairness we have done nothing this summer to suggest we will be better next season and Liverpool, United, City and Chelsea have all improved.

What I find amazing is that someone has tipped Liverpool to win the damn thing and many others think they will finish 2nd or 3rd. It is just a media bandwagon.

They finished 6th last season and 7th the season before. How people can seriously think they will leap 5/6 places in a season is beyond me. They have some good players but the players they signed this summer are not going to win them the title and their players last season did not even get them into the top 5.

I agree, however, with the pundits that we are not finishing in the top 4 unless something drastic happens in the next 2 weeks or our strikers suddenly find talent they never had before.

Yeah, Defoe, Keane, Pav and Crouch never had any talent. Ever.

Get a grip man, they may not be the new super striker we've all been crying out for but they are still all jolly good players. It's a thing called form see. They may all have had a dip in it over the last year or so but i still remain confident that if we are stuck with them, we still have a very good chance of finishing in the top four.

Seriously tempted to put some money on Defoe being top 3 in the Premier League scoring charts. I reckon last season was a blip and he'll hit 15-20 league goals this time round.

Never said they dont have any talent. I said they needed to show more talent then they have ever showed in the past to hoist us up into the top 4.

OMG folks, please dont say supports are so THICK as to say we arent better than last year. So far we still have Modders who will be better, Sando with a years more experience and a full pre season, VDV with a full preseason with the squad will be better.

True football fans knows players evolve and improve, idiots believe that teams only improve with signings.... dont be idiots! IMO we will make a few signings before the window closes, yes I wish we had them sooner but trust me there is reason behind this, our manager and chairman want us to be successful its childishness to believe otherwise.

Stick together and support the team.

What makes you think we are good enough to finish top four this season? We failed to finish in the top four last season, and were pushed right to the end for fifth place. Liverpool have strengthened their team from last season, while we have so far signed a forty year old goalkeeper. So far we have not improved our team one bit from last season, all the talk over the past year and a half has been the need to bring in a proven quality striker, where is he? How can we except to finish in the top four if we don't invest in our first team and continually move forward. IMHO if we start the season with the team we have now, we'll finish sixth!

But a season a go they were? Last season against Inter and AC they were? Football simply isn't like that! Yes I would love a striker possibly 2, the rumours about Ade have me creaming, but to write a team off before a ball is kicked IMO is sheer ignorance.

The important words being "so far". Liverpool have bought Downing, Henderson and Adam who wouldnt get in our first team, Carrol and Suarez who would, but they lost Torres? In preseason they have looked utter shit!

You have no idea what the managment are trying to do, you are presuming that we wont bring in the players I accespt we need. If we have Ade in the bag, he alone makes Liverpools signings look like an utter waste of cash. I dont want my club pissing money on players that wont make a difference, I want CLASS! Class isnt bought easy!

They may well have decent seasons but you can't really blame the pundits for failing to assume that Defoe and Keane will suddenly find their shooting boots again. We didn't finish top four last season and the team below us has improved almost unrecognisably since this time last year, whilst we haven't improved at all. And I'm not talking about signings. We've played well about twice in 2011.

Ignorance, how so.
We are talking about current strikers, if you recall it was a certain Gareth Bale who did the biz against the Milan teams. Don't see any reference to writing a team off.

Its totally impulsive IMO, just look at the headlines and the sensationalism of all the spending, particularly Liverpool....what a boring wank fest.

We'll have no CL this season, so there goes a massive distraction. Another thing they keep failing to grasp, is continuity - not just strengthening. We have a settled side who will only get better, with the likes of Sandro featuring over a full season albeit he's injured for a bit.

We still have 3 weeks to go in the window anyway and if we get Adebayor I expect us to push for third.

Our current strikeforce can not be any worse than last season, so any improvement would hopefully lead to an increase of points.

But when he came to us, he was young, he still is. Imagine the culture shock turning up in London and starting to play in the EPL from south America. You remmebr his first game? I thought he was going to break someones legs, he will be better. People I think take to lightly how it must be for a player to move, sometimes with his family and all that uproar and even worse if he is on his own. He will be settled now and from what I have heard from him, he seems happy in London.

Yes he is injured now but he has stated he will come back sooner than expected, which shows the boy is egar, personally I think next summer he will have more interst than Modders, players in his mould are very hard to come by.

But players go through form, I douby as said our strikers could do any worse than last season...... yet we finished 5th, if they had of performed to what we would expect, say average performance we could have performed better. Look I want a knew striker but to write our strikers off I think is premature. No they wont morve to top 4 sides but I think that any one bar Utd, City, Arse and the chavs would take at least one of them.
