Born into it really. My Dad's family all came from Tottenham and I was born only a few miles away. Went to most games when I was much younger but can't afford to any more. I'm happy (or depressed) enough watching on TV. I was brought up to have very few expectations so I guess me and THFC were a match made in heaven.

My father took me for the very first time to the old White Hart Lane stadium in season 1960/61 when I was 9. I have been hooked ever since and now 72. Many many great games. Many many great players. Hopefully much more to come. COYS !!!!!

Hoddle and the Argentinians in Admiral shirts, then the El Tel, Gazza and Lineker era, when I started to go to games. Chas and Dave. The Jewish link and smoked salmon bagels. Having world class players even in the rubbish '90s teams- Klinsmann's overhead kick against Everton first home match. Funny chants from the terraces and pubs. The link to Northumberland and Harry Hotspur. The noise beating Arsenal. The passion of Poch. The smile of Son. The fact we haven't sold out to billionaires with appalling human rights records. MacNamara's band. The Away support. Craft beer on tap.

It gave me a sense of belonging. Any meaningful matches seemed to mean more as a Spurs fan. It has been one of my few escapes throughout many a dark period, and even when the football isn't great I still look forward to each match with blind optimism.

I guess I like you guys and gals too.

This thread seems as good as any. Expecting our first in March, I sorted out his first two years’ outfits today.

I'll keep it brief, told the tale before. My grandad got me into Spurs, when I was little, I remember sitting going through old programmes and clippings, listening to him tell us stories of how he got to play for the team that represented Spurs during the wartime leagues a couple of times As I got older I looked for records of the wartime leagues but this was pre-internet so we used to laugh it off, "yeah, you said, grandad, if you say so" and dismissed it as stories he told us as kids with a smile.

When he passed away I took the call from my nana, he was mowing the grass, stopped the mower and laid down on the grass and died. I didn't know what to do, sat and held his hand as it got colder, telling him about the game coming up that weekend even though I knew he couldn't hear me, but I couldn't think of what else to say.

His cremation came around and we all said our goodbyes, walked out to where the flowers were and right in the middle of them all was a two foot high cock on ball arrangement, the back signed by Jol and the team "with thanks".

Cried so hard. Tottenham til I die.

My dad never supported a team but used to watch Real Madrid a lot. So I used to sit and watch with him before I even knew what football was. As a young kid I'd often mistake real Madrid for Spurs on TV because of the colour of the kit. By the time I'd realised my mistake it was too late I was hooked.
Obviously growing up in Enfield didn't hurt my chances but supporting spurs was a very happy accident.

Eventually my brother and sister both switched their early allegiances to the scum but I stayed true and never regretted it.... (Mostly never regretted)

Its a family thing here, born into it, saw my brothers punished with no dinner of they dared to suggest they support a different team!

Although hardly ever went, mostly because i played, but equally because we were poor as fuck growing up.

The colour scheme got me into it. That particular shade of white and navy blue.
I also like our 21/22 away kit. Very fashionable.

Also Im all about looking good (because I don't always look good). I think it's more important than winning. This seems to reconcille well with Spurs; at least back before the ENIC days when we sucked, but still looked good.
Being Spursy is also endearing I think..sometimes.
