Only 8 months ago Levy made a statement in the programme saying that all our top players were on long term contracts and we were not a selling club. I think he knows that he will be soundly slaughtered by the fans if he sells Berbatov.

I'd like to think we can keep Berbatov, but he's not getting any younger & the CL is knocking, we're a long way off CL.

The main potential thorn in my side is whether the board has enough bottle to tell Berbatov he's going abroad or not at all.

Never thought I'd say this but Berbatov isn't the diamond in the team....the real diamond geezer is the enigma which is Robbie KEANE. Keane has really come of age over the last two seasons, I hope he can keep it up.

Yup, couldnt agree more.

Anyway, the scenario is, Berbs signs for Manure, after ten games, where Rooney, Ronaldo and Giggs have played their usual 100 mph attacking football, Dantchev is quoted as saying that his client is unhappy that the other players are not playing slowly enough for him to keep up and that he will play better after the New Year, 'cause he always does.

Alex, swallows another wasp and Berbs and Carrick are named as subs for the Carling Cup match against Southend.

I don't believe for a second that the club monitor SC or any other fan website for that matter. They ARE aware of the support that the players get in the ground and that is much more important. We are not looking to sell the player, but if he wants to leave there's very little that the club can do about it.

Berbs is brilliant but there's no doubt that on occasions he can drift in and out of games. I think the player of the season so far is Robbie Keane who has matured into one of the best strikers in the premiership, and he is definitely going nowhere.

He may have done, but Carrick wasn't on a long-term contract so the statement didn't apply to him then. He then proceeded to reject our offer and put his foot down about United. Well, according to various places anyway.

Is that the accepted turn of events? I thought it was?

I think they monitor in some low-level capacity, but I agree with your sentiment. It doesn't matter what they find on the forums - if it seems we've accepted Berbatov's sale in the Summer, they're not going to think "oh, we'll get away with it". As others have said, Levy knows he needs to keep his man - regardless of speculation on one of many Spurs messageboards about the acceptance or lack thereof of any potential Summer move.

The board don't feel that they have to pander to the fans. They feel that they are custodians of the clubs and have to put the short, medium and long term future of the club first at all times. Sometimes they have to do things that are unpopular and cannot be understood by the fans because not everything is transparent. I have no problem with that.

I just think that sometimes Levy's handling of situations could be better.

Despite all of this, it's been a long time that I have been this happy with the quality of our squad and the relative success that the club has enjoyed. And this ultimately is down to Levy.

If he wants to stay, great. But if he wants to go, please don't reduce yourself to begging, it's pathetic. He knows how valued he is at Tottenham. He knows he will play every week. He knows he is paid a large amount and he knows that the fans think he is a great player. He also knows that under Ramos we look like we might win something.

If all that isn't enough to convince him to stay, then it's up to him to put in a transfer request and leave.

It's a pretty lucrative job though to be ManU's feeder...

As long as they always pay OTT I'm all for it :hump:

The £18m looked nice at first. The Carrick-shaped hole in the centre of our midfield for over two seasons wasn't worth it though. Unless you're a shareholder.

Dimi is an awesome player but in all honesty if 30m+ is being offered...we should take it. Maybe slightly contreversial view point but we got a New Stadium/Expansion to fund and as the poster above has put so well...Keano is the diamond in our team not berba and I agree 100% with that!

I would be gutted to see such a graceful talented player leave the lane but he is NOT irreplacable and if he wants to go....what can you do

I'm willing to bet Keane won't be anywhere near as consistent without Berba.

Yeah it's not like he did it for the 3 years before Berbatov was playing for us.

Team.

He will be difficult to replace, so I hope the club are not tempted to cash in.

I WANT HIM TO STAY- clear enough!

Yea, he didn't really, he was patchy.

Still scored a lot of goals each year, but yes, took a lot of crtitism on this forum over his in and out performances. I think playing with Berbs means he has more 'in' games.

I hate to break it you, but you're actually making it easier for him to leave or for the club to sell him, because you're sending the message that you've already accepted it. It strikes me as a little pathetic.

Why should we resign ourselves to it? Do we stop supporting the team halfway through a season, because we won't win anything? Of course not! We support the club no matter what the outcome is. So even if it's a foregone conclusion, why should we just lie down and accept it? Answer that. Why should we just lie down and accept it? What do we gain?

What strikes you as pathetic exactly? I'm saying that in my opinion Berbatov will leave in the Summer. There is no denying that he is one of the top 3-5 strikers in the world at the moment and he knows this and knows that he needs to challenge for honours NOW. He can not challenge for the Premier League or Champions League with Spurs and Spurs won't be able to challenge for these trophies for a good few years yet by which time Berbatov will be too old. What is pathetic about me telling the truth?

And what do you mean about 'do we stop supporting the team halfway through the season if we can't win anything'? Whats that got to do with my opinion about Berbatov. I'll support Spurs even if we lose every game and i'll sing and cheer all the players even if we can't win nothing.

Why are you saying 'why should we lie down and accept it'? We are fans thats why. We support the club and its the players who dictate whether they move or not. If Berbatov wants to stay he'll sign an extension. If he wants to go further in his career and challenge for the big honours then he'll go in the Summer.
