Radu Dragusin might have only been in England around a month but it’s already clear his agent will have a lot to say on matters.

In quotes relayed by Playsport, Manea has bemoaned an apparent lack of cash on offer from the likes of Nike and Adidas in a bizarre rant.

“We’re already talking to a lot of people. We have a written offer from Nike. I’m in negotiations with them. From Nike and from Adidas. We are seeing. They have to put out a little bit more if they want to… Less than a million a year. They don’t give that much money. There are others… Gillette, other companies that give,” Manea said.

“Nike, Adidas and Puma. That’s it. You can get money from them. So of those three, it’s a shampoo company (that’s giving the most). I’m not happy with the offer (from Adidas). They need to put their hand in their pocket. We might see him with Adidas if they don’t dig deeper in their pocket.”

He needs to get on the pitch first. Just being in the squad doesn't guarantee anything.

Gillette is owned by Proctor and Gamble who, with a market cap $370bn are worth almost double the combined market caps of Nike ($158bn), Adidas ($33.4bn) and Puma ($6.65bn).

It staggers me that footballers hire people with a high functioning mental retardation to conduct their business affairs, the likes of Charlie Kane and this guy are bringing spoons to a gun fight.

Makes you think it’s going to be a story about playing time or something. This trash shouldn’t be posted here
This. Expected it to be about him being on the bench every game. When it's actually about sponsorships and playing companies off each other. Nothing to get worked over in the end.

It’s common practice. The agent is trying to get the best deal for his client by playing organisations off against each other.
True but calling your would-be-sponsor a cheapskate to the world is not very far-sighted lol. My organisation is huge and would have walked away at that point.

Doesn’t the same thing happen at club level re contract negotiations?

it’s a ploy to drive up earnings and income.

You don’t get what you’re worth, you get what you negotiate.

Although when you are trying to get a sponsor you are expected to be an ambassador of the brand. Saying good things about it promoting it etc. if the initial part of that is your agent mouthing off saying they are cheap and unfair etc it’s not a good look for the brand so immediately you are on the wrong foot.
