...under UEFA regulations, it's very important for clubs to have players who are both nationals of the club's country and who have come through their Academies.

Really? Didn't think it was. What regulation is this? Lots of talk about it, but thought it was anti-freedom of movement or something.

I hope we find "Serendipity" during this "One Crazy Summer" in the transfer market. We are "Better off Dead" than making bad decisions this summer that could see us "Floundering" on "The Way to Wellville". It would be best to invest in the "Sure Thing" rather than listening to "The Grifters" parading themselves as agents. Needless to say "The Cradle Will Rock" if we allow ourselves to be duped by a "Con. Air" on the side of caution, I always "Say. Anything" we do needs to be good for the team tactically, lest we show our "True Colors" and spend "Money for Nothing" like we did last year.

What the fuck?
I hope we sign a big "Star. Wars" will break out on this site otherwise!

Fingers crossed we keep Berbatov, he's really "Super. Man", we could do with a few more players like that!

Hey, this is getting fun... honest:wink:

But in addition, under UEFA regulations, it's very important for clubs to have players who are both nationals of the club's country and who have come through their Academies. Ledley King fits the bill. Jamie O'Hara is the only other first-teamer who does.

So, for both footballing and UEFA political reasons, I'm pretty sure that Jamie O'Hara will be staying at Spurs.

Really? Didn't think it was. What regulation is this? Lots of talk about it, but thought it was anti-freedom of movement or something.

From the 2006/07 season, the 'A' list that teams submit for UEFA club competitions which is limited to 25 players will include at least two places on this list for players trained by the club's own football academy and two further places for players trained either by the club's academy or by other clubs from within the same association. Further changes are planned for future seasons, while UEFA is also recommending that its member associations introduce similar measures at domestic level.

MarkInJapan - in practical terms, those regulations I posted above mean that kids have to be in a club's academy for several years, which effectively means they have to be local. Despite Wenger's repeated kiddysnatching, I think there is a minimum age at which players can sign for a club in another country.

Also, UEFA are pretty explicit that these regulations are attempts to get round EU law:

New measures introduced by UEFA have the objective of creating a better balance in domestic competitions, preventing clubs from simply hoarding players in squads and creating a system whereby local trained players would be given a greater opportunity to play regularly.
Consequently, UEFA identified a number of perceived problem areas within the European game. These included a lack of incentive in player training, problems for national teams, lack of local regional identity in many club teams, lack of competitive balance and over-stocked squads. The proposals are not based on nationality-related issues, as UEFA can not violate EU legislation on, for example, the freedom of movement of labour across borders.

I can't see either Kaboul or KPB going in the summer. Both came to the club and were under the distinct impression if they featured in 6-10 games during this season then they were going to be very lucky indeed. As things panned out our defence was made of glass, hence Kaboul being thrown in at the deep end without a mentor alongside him, and KPB was thrown into a few games to see if he could bring some solidity to the midfield.

Both these actions were brought by desperation & necessity. Both failed. Both players are young and should have learnt a lot that will make them better in the future and for that reason I can see Ramos keeping them.

if Hutton, King, Woodgate, Bale and Keane stay i dont care who else goes as long as we bring in the players Ramos wants...

If Berbatov stops his agent from being a nob and signs a new contract i'll be happy if he stays too but tbh he looks like he wants to go

Yesterday showed again how much we need to change the squad. Considering these are players who should be playing for their spurs futures they were abysmal...particularly the midfielders.

JJ had another of his anonymous games, Zokora was terrible defensively and the less said about Hudd's 'cameo' the better. At least two of those three need to be sold and replaced.

I thought Jenas was poor when he was switched to the right in the second half,Zokora tried hard but without much quality and the Hudd - no comment!

Hmmm. Didn't know about that. That can only be a good thing for the future of the English national side. Just a shame it doesn't go a bit further!

Aahh! Should have spotted that. May have doen if you'd somehow managed to shoehorn "Grosse Pointe Blank" in there.

And I think we can both agree that Serendipity is the biggest pile of shit he has ever appeared in and should have been kept out of your list!

i think most of you lot are absolutely crazy if you think that many players are going to come/go in one window... maybe over two/three but not enough clubs are going to want to take all the players people have listed in a period of 2/3 months (not at their value anyway)...

i can see a handful moving on and vice-versa coming in... possibly with one BIG signing (prob dependent on whether we let berbs go for silly money)

i just think people should be a bit more realistc and remember where FM200? ends and real life begins!! :D

If you think about it though there are plenty of people who are almost guaranteed to go.

Ghaly, Stalteri, Gardner for certain and Rocha, Robinson, Lee and Berbatov very probably. That's 7 out without even considering the rest (of whom very few have played themselves into Ramos' permanent thoughts).

If we offload them and some others plus the money that Levy will have promised Ramos anyway why shouldn't we bring in up to 7 players?

Man City did it last season and it's been done before. I really think Ramos will clear out the squad...and after the last few performances who can blame him.

There may not be a mass exodus of players leaving this summer but it will not be down to a lack of effort on our part.A few people ask -why does Ramos not play other squad players in the first team as we have nothing to play for? - The fact that he does'nt,would suggest that he does'nt think they are good enough!
Add to that the fact that we are complaining about the quality of our current first team and it gives an idea of the number of players that may be going this summer!

“We built a fantastic team in the summer, £30m was spent on players. So there's no excuse, we have some great players there but we just have to make sure they play together.

“For the club to expect to do only as well as last year is unacceptable."

Keith Mills, August 2007

“We have made a massive investment in the squad and as a result we have the best squad of players this club has had for over 20 years.”

Daniel Levy, August 2007

Whoops!
Pity the investment was in players that have been unable to make any kind of impact on the first team!

Wtf? I don't think any of them need to be sold. I think it's silly to ever say someone needs to be sold. Unless they're first name's Grzegorz.
