thanks for the info etc on Bale & Ratcliffe

actually Ratcliffe just had a nice word to say on Bale - but he's been so anti -

last week we had Hudd & Lennon getting right grief on the TV commentary for the U21s (and yes Lennon wasn't even playing!) by the analyst - I think Stuart Robson

what is it with ex pros and Spurs players?

we have Jamie Redknapp putting the boot in on us on Sky

grrrrrrrr

Yeah Bale is a bit of preening ninny, but then so is Ronaldo, they are both good enough to get away with it though.

Arshavin had Gunter in knots for the second goal, I really want him in January. Levy sort it please.
sorry?

Yeah, I noticed he eased-up as well.

Bale was getting pushed further and further up the field as they got more desperate.

I don't think Ratcliffe liked that for some reason. Not Bale's fault at all.
They wanted to use him for his attacking capabilities, and that's how he was played.

Thought Bale looked good, was almost playing as a number 10 at times, but that's when the game was really open so he could get away with it.

14:59 chrissivad neg reps you as your spamming

Just a harmless joke in a thread which will now probably die down as the match is over, infact, you gave me the inspiration of that "spam" by your double post of "pav has been subbed...match ends".

Pointless neg rep, well done to you for making yourself feel better though

Can anyone who watched the game tel me how our lads performed ?

Cheers

Missed a few key moments (Wales goal, for example  ) but all were good. Maybe very good.

The conditions (especially first half) were dreadful. I've barely seen games played in such miserable rain. But arguably more than any player on the pitch, the Spurs guys showed decent touch and control.

PuvlyooCHENka caused problems and stayed very forward. He made some good runs and is very strong and good in the air. He also showed a lovely bit of striking ability late on with a run from the wide right channel, found himself a cheeky half-yard and nearly scored a beauty from 25 yards, skidding and bouncing along its way to the far corner before Hennessey pulled off a top save.

Bale got progressively more advanced as the game got on, and as he did so Wales looked at their strongest. He was even playing centre-forward at one point. He beat plenty of players and was making things happen. Shame about the pen miss but after a quiet initial response he was fine second half.

Gunter I liked a lot. He put in a real shift against some excellent attackers. Struggled at times against Arshavin but absolutely no more than some far more experienced defenders in the Euros and UEFA Cup last year. He also put in a couple of very sexy crosses, one of which some berk failed to score from despite a virtual open goal from three yards (never mind it would have been ruled out due to pushing elsewhere - that's not Gunts fault).

Hope that gives a bit of an (amateur) impression.

not much to add to that, just that Bale was the spart in the Welsh team.

The Welsh goal (see here) Bale picked up the ball and does what he likes to do, drove forward between two Russians. He was always looking to get forward as well.
