Arsenal fans saying it’s only Fulham, but they couldn’t even beat them the scrubs. Haha

At some point fans of other clubs will claim we bottled the league. Because they’re scared. The speed Ange has turned us around is astonishing, we are going places at a rapid pace and it’s incredibly exciting.

Top of the table but those subs did not inspire any confidence should we pick up any injuries.

also, how good is Vicario?! What a signing.
Should we pick up any injuries?

Bentancur, Solomon, Perisic & Sessegnon already are injured, and Bissouma was suspended, so both our starting lineup and our bench were weaker than they could have been. Johnson, Lo Celso & Gil are all just back from injury, so we shouldn't expect much from them just now. In a month's time, we might have all of them back and our options will then be looking very different.

I keep hearing that Arsenal would be doing even better than us if it wasn't for injuries, even though they have fewer than us.

Top of the league on points and about half the comments are still negative. Unbelievable. We needed our squad tonight, it might not have been as swashbuckling as we've become accustomed to but they got the job done.

They need more match minutes spread out across games more evenly then. Just wholesale changing the attack and midfield with 10 mins left does them no favours.
It was probably the plan but didn't have much choice with the injuries to Udogie and Sarr and the "3 sub windows" rule.

How can you arrive at 7 minutes added without any VAR checks, no injury breaks and next to no time-wasting?
And the one time Vic had an opportunity to take a few seconds Taylor whipped out his yellow card faster than you can say "Paulinha is cockwomble"

Last 15 or so we basically had no press resistant or explosive players on the pitch.

That is always going to lead to losing possession.

Deki looked gassed to be fair but Skipp, Hojbjerg, Emerson were all put into positions, that under Ange, require players to burst past players or turn out and drive in another direction.

None of them can do it, and they were all covering the midfield areas at that point.

Lo Celso isn't powerful enough to get past players (drop in and link type) and Porro is more of a wide player in that respect.

Sarr, Bissouma, Maddison and Bentancur make it look so easy as they can glide past players and not having any of them on the pitch severely hinders us. We go from a team challenging to a plodding midtable team in that respect.

I have said many times on here (although mostly when he was at Leicester), but I love Maddison’s interviews.

What makes them so good is he’s just himself, he doesn’t give stock footballer responses that you expect, he just answers honestly and put his personality across. So refreshing.

Madders is such an intelligent footballer. You can just tell how much he’s thinking on another level during a game.

Must be the only one who felt like Fulham were never scoring. We could still be playing and I don't think they'd get one.
They’re lucky there are 3-4 really poor sides because they’re also not great, can’t score and can’t defend not a good combination, nailed on for about 17th-15th

I rarely comment haven't done in years but, for the 1st time in ages I want to say something and firstly to say about Hjoberg, if anyone was passing sideways and backwards today, it wasn't him. Good game, great result, we could of been better but still time to get better, can't believe we top of the league and have room to get better.

Think the whole passing backwards/sideways/forward thing is a bit of a red herring. He might be able to pass the ball forwards but only after the balls been recycled a lot and other players have made some space for him. The trouble with PEH is he’s not breaking any lines or playing on the turn and drawing players out so the balls forward are normally into set defences. No where near as effective imo anyway.

I get the dissent about the second half and the subs but I think the short comings in our squad is why Ange is saving players if we are ahead and ahead well. He’s obviously managing minutes for the likes of Mads and Son because we don’t have replacements of similar quality. I’d rather be 2-0 up and shaky than burn them out. If it was still 0-0 those subs don’t happen. Face it, we have a limited squad and he’s managing it so we have the best possible chance of winning the next one.

Not really a game to judge, 10-15 minutes when we were 2 nil up and coasting is hardly a fair time to judge.
