He's a left winger that could probably function on the right given his favored foot is his left. If we want to move forward with the 4-3-3, he'd be molded behind Bale.

But, that being said, if we sign Ince, it might signal the sale of Townsend. Between Ince, Bale and Townsend, it's too many guys vying for one position.

I'd probably prefer Townsend to Ince given that he's our own. He's also got more craft to his game and I feel as though Townsend has a much better idea of what he wants to do on the ball whereas Ince often pulls a Parker and runs down dead ends.

I just don't really get the logic of adding a guy like Ince at this point, unless AVB rates him over Townsend.

It's a Levy type deal though. Only one year left on Blackpool contract, so should get for £6 million maximum. He's young and English which means Levy will look to double his money over next 3 years.

It's a fair point. I can't deny that Ince, while he has his shortcomings, does have some potential.

But, I just fail to see why we would go for him when we have Townsend already on our books. Townsend is only 6 months older, same nationality, and to me has even better potential given his ability to create out of nothing.

I guess I'd just love for us to use that same £6 on more pressing positions or at least differing talents.

I'd be happy if this is true. Seen him in a few games for Blackpool and have watched him. he will be a good player, and def has his head screwed on.

Personally I think Townsend is quite limited. His attributes seem to be getting his head down and running. I'm sure his feet are faster than his head. Granted, he's a great impact player though and is good for 20 minutes, but I feel does not know how to pace himself and runs out of steam quite quickly.

so twitter...

Quite a few relatively respectable tweeters though.

Some saying Ince has signed, others saying dewal agreed but waiting fior Ince to sign. Looks like it could happen.

I'm not overwhelmed. He's not played in PL so although he's done well in Championship I cannot see him being an immediate starter - and although Liverpool youth are not top class I'm still staggered they could have released him in 2011 yet he's now hot.

Would certainly have prefered a young striker (which is where we are short) than someone in a position where we have decent options and prospects.

I read somewhere that Townsend was actually one of the more accurate crossers during his time at QPR. He does have a tendency to be a bit selfish at times, but I'm guessing that probably had a lot to do with the form he was in, and the state of the club he was playing for.

He had an insane amount of dribbles, he has a wicked shot from distance and I think if he were surrounded by a better squad, one that actually isn't a bunch of mercenaries, that he could really develop into a fine talent.

I'd prefer Tom Incinho
Would be great, but difficult deal to do. Would have 3rd party ownership and wouldn't want to move til January of course. I heard Chelsea are now interested in him too after reading your post.

Perhaps im in the minority but i like Ince

I don't dislike him - but he's only played in Championship so stiill needs to get his feet underneath the table in PL - and sometimes players don't make the transition.

As far as I am aware he's played for Blackpool mainly as a left winger and 'in the hole'. We have Townsend (21), Ceballos (20), Pritchard (20) and McEvoy (19) coming through the youth system, so its probably one of our strongest positions....and everyone tells me AVB wamts to play 433 so there will not be a position 'in the hole'...

Given Spurs limited funds, I'd have preferred a young striker rather than another winger, and one who has yet to play in PL.
