Personally I think Townsend is quite limited. His attributes seem to be getting his head down and running. I'm sure his feet are faster than his head. Granted, he's a great impact player though and is good for 20 minutes, but I feel does not know how to pace himself and runs out of steam quite quickly.

Surely he just needs a bit of coaching then. I think a lot of the ingredients are there for him to be a good player. I think Levy would rather keep Townsend than spend money on Ince. So I suspect that will happen.

It's a Levy type deal though. Only one year left on Blackpool contract, so should get for £6 million maximum. He's young and English which means Levy will look to double his money over next 3 years.

At least,
We won the lottery with Bale with us maybe getting up to 8x his cost for us.

As I said I've watched Blackpool a few times with the intention of actually watching Ince play. There is a player in there. I've also obviously seen Townsend maybe a dozen times (maybe more) in various matches live and granted he does cause opposition teams problems, but I do have my doubts. Luckily for Spurs I'm not employed to make decisions or choices so it's not my problem! (y)

Is a championship player, who is no better than Townsend, the height of our ambition. This is not the type of signing that is going to convince both Bale & AVB to stay. This is not me acting like a spoilt brat but a fan who sees us a few quality signings away from making a serious title assault. Ince is not a quality signing ffs....

Who was the last British player we were linked with that people were excited about?

Phil Neville, top, top, triffic player and a smashing lad to have in the dressing room. We would have won the league if only Daniel had pushed the boat out to get him :)

very good buy for them if true

Maybe, maybe not.

He looks decent, but for that much cash he's undeniably a gamble at the point. He might turn out to be a world-beater, he might turn out to be a flash in the pan.

Well if Cardiff are paying 8mil for Ince, that must mean Townsend, is worth at least 12mil

He's at least as good in my opinion. Every time Townsend and Ince played for U21, it was Townsend that outshined him.

That being said, Ince's success in the Championship most likely gives him the edge in value. Despite Townsend's success this season coming in the Premier League, it wasn't quite at the level of Ince's. It's all relative, though. Neither can be dismissed and I think Townsend's ability is superior to Ince, but you know clubs will look at the goals/assists and become enamored with Ince.

I think with that, along with the gambling shit (fair or not), Townsend's probably a mil or 2 cheaper than Ince.

Another solid season in the EPL and Townsend's value should skyrocket, though.

SSN are reporting that Cardiff have had a bid of 8m accepted for Tom Ince. Confirmed by his father supposedly. Not too bothered for 8m.
