In fairness, it isn’t necessarily his responsibility to chase moting all the way across the six yard box, but if not he should be communicating to one of his centre backs. So yeah, poor. Atalanta aren’t used to parking the bus, and their wing backs aren’t naturally out and out defenders. This is something I’ve talked about before. The system is such a unique one that I don’t know how smooth his transition would be from a quasi winger role to an out an out full back in a back 4. Obviously he has defensive qualities, but he just usually never has to defend that much.

Why is Castagne getting blamed ???
Just watch this clip.

Balls gets cleared, he moves up and PSG gain possession. He runs back. But it is the no2 shirt CB who just stands still for a moment & has no clue Chopu-Moting is behind him.
This is on no2 shirt to get ahead of Chopu Moting and prevent the tap in

Poor again tonight following a poor performance against Inter. Don't rate him.
It is hard to believe he would be succesful in the prem after being beaten off the dribble by the likes of Choupo Moting & Ashley Young in consecutive games.

Aarons and Emerson or Celik.
Emerson won't happen due to the Barca situation.

Not sure about Celik but I'd feel better if we spent more on getting a creative midfielder and striker.

Aarons can be our attacking FB, Tanganga has the defensive ability to play the reserved FB.

So what he's a write off after two games? :ROFLMAO: Has anyone actually seen him throughout the season to make better judgement?

Not saying he’s a bad player, he can cross a ball, he’s tactically and positionally versatile, he’s good in the air, and doesn’t get caught on the ball. He just isn’t really a defender in atalanta’s system.

The whole defensive line panicked to be fair.

4 of them pushed up to press, then two stayed back. They weren't together, either stay in a low block and have the middle press or all push together. It gave PSG the space to get behind.

Castagne seemed to get sucked in too much as well.

Agree on a panic.
Freuller their CM, got injured in last 10 minutes with no subs. Their shape went into disarray.

I find it funny that Castagne is getting blamed for that goal. Had he not been a Spurs linked player, most wouldnt even blame him - probably on replay say its the no2 shirt fault.

I think a lot of them are to blame for it to be honest. Then again they probably aren't used to defending so deep so positioning mistakes tend to happen.

It's one of the things I'm starting to become more confident with under Jose.

I'd fancy us to have seen that out.

Fair play to Atalanta for ensuring that Castagne can get his dream move to spurs asap.

I’m not convinced by any of the right backs we’ve been linked too. I don’t think Aaron’s has actually shown that much going forward either. As you say invest more in a technical midfielder and I would maybe go with Foyth and Aurier for another season. If we’re going to get a RB I’d rather do it properly. There’s not many about that’s either good enough or available.

Problem is it sounds like Aurier wants to leave and Foyth won't get a look in at RB under Jose.

I think with Aarons he's still very young and he knows the prem. He's also got some fantastic attributes. He's quick, he's tenacious, hes sound technically and he can get up and down the flank. The defensive side needs work but I fancy Jose to improve that side of his game more than any coach to be fair.

He's quicker than Aurier, better crosser and created more quality chances than him. Playing as rightback for Norwich not basically like winger for Tottenham
