Personally don't see how selling KWP and Aurier and then bringing in Meunier solves anything lol.

Tottenham are pressing ahead with plans to sign right back Thomas Meunier on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

José Mourinho has already spoken to the right back, 28, who is out of contract this month, in an attempt to persuade him to move to London. The Tottenham head coach wants to potentially sell Kyle Walker-Peters and Serge Aurier, his present right backs, after being told there would be limited transfer funds this summer.

I agree.
I know the boss likes experience in his side but aside form the price tag this transfer makes no sense to me.

This team we're looking to build will be challenging for the Carabao Cup in no time.

Agree. The Athletic reported it was a no goer weeks ago, going to Germany.

Should we get into Europe, he’d be useful for a second option but I don’t think he’s any great improvement on Aurier. Replacing Serge with him won’t fix anything.

I personally think it would be good business shipping out KWP and Serge and getting him on a free, sure initially it does not appear to be a huge upgrade but in this current climate it would allow us to build up precious funds for another position. In addition to that I would say he is an upgrade on Aurier, he's got quick feet and has experience at the highest level.

I’d guess there’s a 60% chance Aurier is still our starter next year

If he's no worse than Aurier, then it makes sense to bring him in and use Aurier to raise funds for other positions

Seems like all of this "Meunier to Dortmund confirmed" is from a Nico Schira report, who if I remember was rubbish last season.

I wish there were more of these compilations, instead of just players' YouTube highlights that make them all look brilliant.

He's an improvement on any and every right back option currently at the club.

Clever player with very good reading of the game and technique, as well as being very strong.

Pace isn't everything.

Exactly, remember Corluka? Turning speed of a fleet of tractors yet defensively he was excellent.

That’s more to do with our current right backs being underwhelming for me. Meunier would be fine for a free, but he’s not that good imo. We need to sign somebody like Aarons who has potential to lock down the spot for years to come, not another average stop gap we’ll need to move on next year or so.

I agree that someone like Aarons is what we ultimately need. I don’t agree that Meunier is average.
