We used to have Gary Doherty as a reserve CF and a first choice CB.

Just saying.

We haven't hit the depths of certain episodes. And I genuinely think we will improve vastly if we show a little patience.

I still remain a slight thread of hope that Pochettino will get control in the next few windows. That the summer just gone not many players were bought because the players that are already with us are all on trial. That all said players will continue to fail that trial and be sold. With the re-building process beginning again and done with some structure and guidance.

I feel like I should be much more upset about this all than I actually am. .
But ..Its kind of invigorating. The is proper old school Spurs chaos.

This'll sort the wheat from the chaff

Too bloody right.

If we end up winning a cup there will be a thread about it not being shiny enough.

But you forget,

The only Cup worth winning is the ;

'Entry to the Champions League Cup'
Aka
'The Top 4 Trophy'

I would finish mid table and win any of the trophies we're competing for this season without a moments hesitation.

It's actually called Europa League this season, though.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Firstly, I'm not happy we lost yesterday and I am not happy about the nature of many of our performances this season.

But I thought I'd create a 'happy' space, well maybe not happy but at least somewhere that isn't suicidal, for those to cower while every man and his dog writes off every person involved with Spurs from Levy to Poch and Kaboul to the social media manager and every tea lady and player in between (other than Lloris).

I'm distressed a bit by the lack of application and fight shown by some of our players, of course I am, and it's not excusable. I'm a deep believer of if we lose but we've given everything can accept it...

However, at the beginning of the season I and many others said we would give the manager and players time, perhaps that is why my depression is only running so far at the moment. I had parts of this season written off I guess with the opinion we would need a couple of transfer windows and many months before we became a good unit after a ridiculous and direction-less 2012/13.

Lets get a grip for a minute.

We can demand that Levy leaves, that's your prerogative -but he'll be replaced by another Enic chairman working in the same manner so instead of protests and booing in the ground, how about we make the atmosphere not poisonous and get behind the team where many of our young talented players are absolutely devoid of confidence.

Whatever people say we do have some very talented players with the ball, Mason, Lamela, Eriksen etc (all 23 and under btw...) who are not 'shit'. They have clearly not adapted to playing together or in this system fluently and also the fact that other players are not confident and offering themselves for the ball effects the whole team. Again, the mentality and confidence is a big issue here.

But we do have some good players and players with great potential, as above.

A player like Chadli, who I would predict about 70% of this forum wrote off last season, has proved that he has talent and is an important player who can have big moments of influence. This to me shows that we should not write players off such as Fazio, Stambouli even Lamela who is effectively in his first season, Davies, Dier maybe even Chiriches who has made some howlers but again has not had a real stretch of playing time.

Capoue, is out of form but he isn't rubbish-he started off the season as one of the more effective midfielders in the league.

Vertonghen is a good player.

Etc

Hugo Lloris. dont need to say anything about him really.

Certainly, in my opinion, if we want any chance of improvement and stability in the future then we give Poch some time and transfer windows. We have criticised the board to the hilt in regards to sacking managers and the merry go round that our dugout seems to be, many are not in a position to complain given the automatic pressure we put the management under.

Want the board out if thats your preference, but let's do that somewhere other than during the 90 mins of footy. I see a shell shocked team without leaders at the moment and they need us at the Lane to help and not hinder. And that isn't me saying everyone 'be ecstatic' when we lose, it is me saying that in my opinion we can help the players on a match day and that would be a better approach.

Anyway, basically heres a thread for anyone to say something 'positive' if they feel that way inclined or just measured-for people who needs a break on a Monday morning from the depression. I haven't got time at work to put more detail in at the moment, but I certainly have more to say later....
I agree about giving Poch time and transfer windows. We could do with bringing an older head in if at all possible.

I quite like it.

It makes me feel like it's the early 2000s all over again.

Bring back Hoddle I say.

Maybe we should go back to the 70's. Last time we got relegated we kept faith with a new, young manager, unearthed one of the most talented players this country has produced, and signed two world cup winners. We then proceeded to have our second most successful spell in the clubs history.

I love this thread @0-Tibsy-0

These days with Levy Out, Levy In, Sherwood, Poch... we just spend far too much times ateach other's throats. Nice to think of what brought us together inside the club - the brotherhood.

Overrated as a city in my opinion, nice cathedral granted but parking is terrible and not enough decent pubs

He'll be exceedingly fortunate to get one.

The difference being that being relegated wasn't KB's fault. It isn't going to happen this time, though.

Good work @0-Tibsy-0, this place needs somewhere happy to go after looking in Jimbo78's thread.

transition , not going to be a pleasant season but it hopefully will do the job of sorting out the clubs weaknesses...

I spent the entire 90's saying "well, there's always next season", usually by about November - I can take a little carnage

I've written the top 4 off this season and think we should go all out in Europa. If we win it we go into the CL next season anyway. Then we can give Poch a whole summer to re-bulld this squad and get the team playing to his philosophy. Like that clown Ade said earlier the players just don't get his style. It's not Poch's fault he inherited this squad. The players he wanted we didn't get. I still think he is the right man for the job and if we can get the team playing to his philosophy then I do see a positive outcome. We don't close down anyone quick enough and we need to scrap the high line because we are always getting caught by that ball over the top and our defenders do not have the pace to deal with it...I will be hugely disappointed if Levy sacks him by January. Lets get behind the team no matter what the outcome is, because that way the players cannot complain about the fans and will have to actually do something on the pitch instead of moaning!

Time to man up on this forum. It's as if everyone on here only started supporting Spurs in 2010 and can't remember how crap we've been before. Time to stick together, get behind the coach and the team and come out the other side.
