Firstly, I'm not happy we lost yesterday and I am not happy about the nature of many of our performances this season.

But I thought I'd create a 'happy' space, well maybe not happy but at least somewhere that isn't suicidal, for those to cower while every man and his dog writes off every person involved with Spurs from Levy to Poch and Kaboul to the social media manager and every tea lady and player in between (other than Lloris).

I'm distressed a bit by the lack of application and fight shown by some of our players, of course I am, and it's not excusable. I'm a deep believer of if we lose but we've given everything can accept it...

However, at the beginning of the season I and many others said we would give the manager and players time, perhaps that is why my depression is only running so far at the moment. I had parts of this season written off I guess with the opinion we would need a couple of transfer windows and many months before we became a good unit after a ridiculous and direction-less 2012/13.

Lets get a grip for a minute.

We can demand that Levy leaves, that's your prerogative -but he'll be replaced by another Enic chairman working in the same manner so instead of protests and booing in the ground, how about we make the atmosphere not poisonous and get behind the team where many of our young talented players are absolutely devoid of confidence.

Whatever people say we do have some very talented players with the ball, Mason, Lamela, Eriksen etc (all 23 and under btw...) who are not 'shit'. They have clearly not adapted to playing together or in this system fluently and also the fact that other players are not confident and offering themselves for the ball effects the whole team. Again, the mentality and confidence is a big issue here.

But we do have some good players and players with great potential, as above.

A player like Chadli, who I would predict about 70% of this forum wrote off last season, has proved that he has talent and is an important player who can have big moments of influence. This to me shows that we should not write players off such as Fazio, Stambouli even Lamela who is effectively in his first season, Davies, Dier maybe even Chiriches who has made some howlers but again has not had a real stretch of playing time.

Capoue, is out of form but he isn't rubbish-he started off the season as one of the more effective midfielders in the league.

Vertonghen is a good player.

Etc

Hugo Lloris. dont need to say anything about him really.

Certainly, in my opinion, if we want any chance of improvement and stability in the future then we give Poch some time and transfer windows. We have criticised the board to the hilt in regards to sacking managers and the merry go round that our dugout seems to be, many are not in a position to complain given the automatic pressure we put the management under.

Want the board out if thats your preference, but let's do that somewhere other than during the 90 mins of footy. I see a shell shocked team without leaders at the moment and they need us at the Lane to help and not hinder. And that isn't me saying everyone 'be ecstatic' when we lose, it is me saying that in my opinion we can help the players on a match day and that would be a better approach.

Anyway, basically heres a thread for anyone to say something 'positive' if they feel that way inclined or just measured-for people who needs a break on a Monday morning from the depression. I haven't got time at work to put more detail in at the moment, but I certainly have more to say later....

I had a feeling that the majority wouldn't want to have any positive thoughts. I'm just going to sit here on my own with my pint and wait for those God damn Zombies to piss off.

not sure if it was accident or genius but it strikes me that if Levy left Poch to his own devices for a while, as Ashley has done with Pardew, the players might just realise there are no quick fixes here on the coaching side and that they rather than the coaching are the problem.
So for once id like our borderline mute leader to reiterate his belief in the current management structure in the hope that it rallies the playing staff (see Delia Smith for details!)

Well done Tibsy, I agree with what you are saying. I want to give Poch time and want him to be given time. I get abused left right and centre about us sacking managers etc. Time we back a young motivated guy who has shown some signs of becoming a very good manager.

We should give him at least two years to get this mess sorted out and really start judging him into the second year. Clearly there is at least 30-40m worth of talent that he doesn't fancy in the squad namely Chiriches, Paulinho, Lennon, Dembele (to a lesser extent) and probably even Soldado. Let him move on the ones he doesn't have a use for, rightly or wrongly and let him tell Levy exactly who he needs to turn the ship around.

I think the team could look very different with a Parker type signing and a Naybett type signing. Some energy in the midfield and composure at the back that everyone of our cb's need along side them Jan included.

We are crap at the moment but time and effort by the manager can bring this around. Don't kneejerk stick to the course!

I thought no we have the Parker type signing in Stambouli. Seen enough of him to want him starting now.
we need Walker playing, we need Vertonghen playing, I'd have Davies starting as he's a much better defender than Rose. Stambouli protecting with 3 of Mason, Lamela Eriksen behind Kane and Soldado. Freshens things up, plenty of energy to attempt pressing game and a much more solid looking back line. We have the players to be doing much better. It's all about getting a system that suits and a bit of confidence back into the team.
I Never expected much in the league this season. Top 8, improve our quality of football and a cup win. Still plenty of time to achieve all of that.

I have pretty much given up on the league now but good news..... We are still in all 3 cups!!!!

Bout time we fucking won something, getting worse than the Arse. We better win one this year.

I would be happy if we finished mid table, sold all our trash between Christmas and summer windows, won the Europa and League Cup and then sit back in the summer and build a team that the manager wants for once.

Having endured 1995 - 2005, this is smoooooooooooth sailing. Our players are better than this, the lot we had in the later nineties weren't.

I managed to enjoy Rebrov being somewhat semi-slick technically. Now I can enjoy Lamela, Soldado and Eriksen showing some noice details.

Also, there's our belgian sex machine (no homo) Nacer Chadli. I predicted before the season that he would bag 15 goals in all competitions. That's looking somewhat promising.

And our injury list is baffling. There's hardly any!

Stambouili has potential and definitely a lot more drive than Capoue. The problem with the shape you are suggesting is there is absolutely no width. Teams will just play 5 men midfields and we'll end up with more of the trench warfare attrition based football we're getting.

The Southampton team Poch managed broke so quickly from their own half and we threatened that against Arsenal without the composure to hurt them. Get some width on at least one side and try and play a quicker breaking counter attacking game again.

I feel like I should be much more upset about this all than I actually am. .
But ..Its kind of invigorating. The is proper old school Spurs chaos.

This'll sort the wheat from the chaff

I'm basically waiting for this period to blow over. Poch doesn't look happy.

I'm hoping it's because he's unhappy with the performance and application of many of the players and knows it'll take a transfer window or two to rectify it rather than thinking he has taken on the wrong job.

I think we have the basis of something good but like when Redknapp took over we have some holes to fill.

Well as this is my 1000th post at least I can put it in the happy thread even if, like most others I am really sad at what is happening.

But for the positive spin - even though we have played some awful football this season, we are still 4 points off 4th place, in the quarter finals of the Whatever it is called Cup and we should progress in the Europa Cup.

That's about as positive as I can get for now.
