i reckon its benteke. double belgian swoop. esp if the player that visited came on the same day as chadil. that must mean they know each other, if not we would have rather showed them around individually. but of course if they came on a different day then the chances being benteke is much lower

Wouldn't really describe him as any of them really. He's more a Stuart Downing type winger, only a bit bigger and stronger. Not really what we need IMO.

Wat?

I admit that I haven't seen much of him but he plays nothing like Downing, at least what I've seen.

I totally agree with what you're saying Lilbaz, but that wasn't the thrust of my post, mate. I was questioning the idea that profitability should be value that characterises the success of our club. For some people that might be all-important, and I understand and respect that, but it's not for me. If we were to save a couple of million on Villa, there might be some who take a look at the balance-sheet and spank one off safe in the knowledge that our accounts are in such rude health. Personally, I'd rather get a thick 'un watching Villa smash a hattrick against the Scum. Perhaps I'm being dangerously naive and idealistic mate, but I fail to see that spending an additional €3 mil on a world-renowned striker, is going to send us into spiralling Portsmouth-esque insolvency! And realistically, where else do u think we'll find a striker of that quality, at that price?

It's difficult. Do you pick a budget and say this is the limit we are prepared to spend on this player and will not go over it? If the price is too high do we fold or just walk away? In the short term it may or may not cost us a CL place, but in the long term clubs will know that we will not be held for ransom and give us more strength in negotiations.

We did it with Ade and VDV and it came off. We did it with some other players and it didn't.

This is the way Levy runs spurs, some agree with it and some don't. Everyone is gutted that we didn't make CL this year no more so than Levy. I am guessing he would love to bring the likes of Messi to Spurs and win the league every year, but we don't have the money, so have to get value for every penny we spend.

Back to ITK, please Levy sign Villa!

RE the latest ITK. I think Gards is pretty reliable but I can't help thinking he tweeted that info off the back of a convo with Adam Suter who most definitely is not ITK.

His whole credibility (if that's what to call it) seemingly derives from 'calling' Holtby. Even though it had already been mentioned by olderyid amongst one other IIRC. Then he never made another correct claim and told us on 2/3 occasions that a said player is done... Who isn't currently a Spurs player, to name one would be Moutinho.

Few links tonight on Jese Rodriguez, could he be the mystery player? Would be an immense signing!

he's in Turkey with the spanish u-20 side and been there quite a while. Unless he was allowed to leave the camp to make a trip or it was before the U-20 World Cup, or today as they got eliminated yesterday, it wasn't him.

Bit of the belgian flair, plays similarly to his national mate Mirallas from what I have seen in their national side's games.

He was also banging on the everything was agreed with Tom Ince. What makes me doubt anything he says is that if he calls something wrong then he will go back and delete the tweets. Most of the time he jumps on the back of more reliable ITKs.

At one point last season there was a triangle of supposed ITK twitterati of Suter, Eatson, and Gards, all seemingly verifying each others' info.

Since then it appears that only Gards has emerged with any credibility. Eatson may or may not know some stuff, but unfortunately he got caught out on several occasions to be making outright lies (the classic being a comment on how well Gio was doing in training...only for someone to point out that Gio had been on another continent for several weeks). Suter always came across to me like Eatson's nodding dog..

"what's that Eatsy? Meltdown?...Levy Time?..Moutinho and Falcao done deal?..Goodnight? Erm....yeah I'm hearing the same thing, nudge nudge, wink wink, wank wank."

It would be the equivalent of me sending Gards a tweet saying @Gardys regarding the mystery player...he certainly has hands, feet and a head ;)

He isn't verified ITK and talks to Akqa a lot on twitter. There's a lot of residual hate for Akqa on here due to him becoming a bit WUMmy and it spills over to Suter because they are friends and he posts info in a similar way.

Nah no need to rush, COYS. I mean, it's not like we need a striker. We could just take the risk of starting the season with 2 (which is 1 more than last season). We could just take our time; a bit like we have with the Leandro deal; leave it until the last day of the window in true Levy style, and see what (or rather; who) pans out. Or of course, we could pay the additional €3 million required to secure Villa as a matter of urgency, and actually START the season with a world-class striker.
Sorry for the sarcasm, mate, but I'm just hoping your "no need to rush" comment doesn't come to bite u on the ass on Deadline Day when that "list of many striker targets" is diminishing by the minute, and we're scrapping around for the latest Louis Saha disappointment. It's not like we haven't been there before.

2011-12 Bale 25 goal/assists

2011-12 Adebayor 28 goal/assists

Personally, I don't think we are as desperate for a striker as some think.
