He gets criticized when, during the ACN, with an injured Defoe and Adebayor in Africa, we had no strikers. Otherwise, the papers rarely if ever call out Levy. Hence the moniker "teflon Danny".

Which other chairmen do they "call out" ? the glazers maybe - but not much anymore... who else? your point is defunct.

Wowsers. Glad I went out for the day, although it was darned hot out there. Went out for a nice long walk with the missus deep into the woods (but I'm confident they'll never find her though! ;)).

Anyway, no news I see. On the subject of hot, but maybe it's spur of the moment stuff, but some have also got a little hot under the collar in here also. Have to agree with a couple of posters that it's up to youroneself whether you one chooses to believe certain ITK or not but that doesn't deserve abuse or derision surely? Peace, love and understanding and all that...

I'd be happier if we land the target/s we've been working on for the last 2 months, since there 5 WEEKS until the season starts and it's taken us 3 YEARS to NOT sign the last striker we were linked with.
how do you know we haven't been working on other targets behind the scenes that no one knows about?

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

i love spurs as much as the next person, but honestly what does it matter if we don't sign Villa, it won't be the end of the world, we will look for somewhere else.

If the stories are true and none of us truly know that barca are asking for more than we are willing to pay then i am glad we are not going to roll over and let Barca tickle our tummies. They along with Real have a habit of asking for more then they should when selling and then when its the other way low ball the shit out of the other team.

At the end of the day whats the worst thing that happens?

Think some people forget the shit we had to endure through most of the 90's and the early 00's and don't appreciate the great players we have throughout the squad.

Too much info there about the UK dogging scene. ;)

We could sell our best players and either not replace them, or replace them with players of a lesser quality. Of course the only time that has happened was when we sold Carrick...and Berbatov...and Modric....oh and VDV.

Or perhaps Athletico come in and pay the additional €3 million that Levy is unwilling to cough up.
And what do we do then? Go back in for Leandro? 'Cause if we've failed to meet his valuation for the last 3 years, I can't see Internacional suddenly becoming accommodating this window.
Or do we chase Soldado? Benteke? These 2 are gonna cost £20+ millions. If Levy isn't prepared to pay the Villa money, do we really think he's gonna spend that big?
So what happens then? We probably scrap around on deadline day for a last-minute deal, and end up with a Louis Saha or Frazer Campbell. Or go with just the 2 strikers for the 2nd season in succession?
Once again, Levy is playing a dangerous game. Lets hope he doesn't fuck it up.

Or I guess we could just match the offer then. We almost certainly have a list of many striker targets and it is still early days. No need to rush.

Must be the hot weather getting everyone excited. Just chill out the transfer window has only been open for a week and we already have Paulinho under our belt.

Papers like picking on managers, Chairmen rarely get trouble, if they did the Venky's would be paper enemy #1.

You probably chose the one exception to the rule there - they love digging out the Venkys, and rightly so.
Overall you're right though, journalists steer clear of criticising the chairmen in general because they're absolutely reliant on access to their clubs.

Managers still get more flack than the Venky's, you wait til the Paper's get their teeth into Moyes next season. It'll be a bloodbath.

Nah no need to rush, COYS. I mean, it's not like we need a striker. We could just take the risk of starting the season with 2 (which is 1 more than last season). We could just take our time; a bit like we have with the Leandro deal; leave it until the last day of the window in true Levy style, and see what (or rather; who) pans out. Or of course, we could pay the additional €3 million required to secure Villa as a matter of urgency, and actually START the season with a world-class striker.
Sorry for the sarcasm, mate, but I'm just hoping your "no need to rush" comment doesn't come to bite u on the ass on Deadline Day when that "list of many striker targets" is diminishing by the minute, and we're scrapping around for the latest Louis Saha disappointment. It's not like we haven't been there before.

Not sure about that man, even the BBC have torn into Venkys. As I said, overall you're right though. Hope you're right about Moyes - we could do with an extra Champions League spot becoming available! (y)

God damn that Levy! Wanting to run a profitable business! Shame on him for not spending a measly three million more on a player! Getting really sick and tired of owners who want to run a football club as a business, we all know that football was never designed to make money!

I expect/hope for a flurry of ITK tomorrow as do others.

Be nice to hear something concrete about another player aside from Villa

Two more points in the last two seasons would have made his business at least £50m more. Sometimes it's worth paying extra for proven quality.

There are zero guarantees that any extra buys would've led to those fabled extra points. Sure, it would've made us stronger on paper, but that's why you play the games. Hell if Sandro hadn't got injured, we might have got those points too.

Believe Nacer Chadli. Would play on the left in the Varela role in the 4-3-3.

I would be happy with him coming over to us, I still remember his good performances against us in the CL. He had a pretty nasty free kick goal too if I remember right.
