I reckon all this renewed Bale chat is just our papers picking up on the bilge that Marca have been reporting. They're jyst trying to unsettle him and the numpties at the Daily Mail and co are jumping on the bandwagon.

That said, 85m is a lot of money. We'd be daft to not at least think about it.

That is a perfect illustration of why we have the no bashing policy on SC. Sadly it seems BW has focused on a post made on this site and that's a lesson for us too. I've thought for a while now that the bashing thing needs to become something we're a lot firmer on and although it'll be too late in this particular case, it bears saying again. Anyone bashing ITK will at the very least lose the right to access/post in the ITK Forums/threads and possibly even the site as a whole. Zero tolerance from here on in.

Mentioned this over at the Bale thread: But imagine having Coentrao and Chadli on the left with Bale and Walker on the right. Walker has looked great thus far in preseason both in attack and defense and obviously Coentrao is well versed in getting forward. If we can get 3-5 goals each out of Coentrao/Walker our goal scoring could be title worthy. We'd have essentially goal scorers everywhere.

If anyone has bashed his itk then thats wrong! But he wasn't moaning too much about itk bashing. He's more worried about his ITK jumping on other forums and then twitter! He wanted to stay more low key but realised that's virtually impossible.

I think Levy would accept a mega money offer for Bale

I don't think he would. I really believe that Levy would see a bigger picture than one that is afforded to us. Levy would obviously see that the ramifications of selling Bale would be far more reaching than losing a world class footballer. Having a pin up superstar has far more benefits than the money that Real are offering (if true). For sure it is a gamble one way or another, But having someone who could influence our position both on and off the pitch leads me to believe that Levy would be highly reluctant to let him go.

You also need to take in to account that Madrid don't have the money (allegedly) to make a purchase that we would demand, Unless they offload some of their other players, Which also would be hard given the money that these guy's are on. The only thing that would push us to the point of selling would be Bale demanding a move (see Marca bull paper for reference). I can not see Bale doing a Modric/Berbatov if I am honest, and even if he did, We would still be in a position of strength. I think all of this is Bale's team posturing for a better offer from us.

If Bale looks at the two possible scenarios, Then he needs to think that A: If I go to Madrid, I will be playing in a role that might not be my first choice and competing against better players for a berth in a unorthodox position (Beckham as a holding midfielder comes to mind, As well as others), Playing in a team that that is still playing second fiddle to Barca, A team that has not won the Champions league for how long and a team that is in transition and also a team that never stays in the saddle for too long. Scenario B: Stay at Spurs, Who admittedly are not as good as Madrid both Historically and present, Though would build a team around me, Give me constant 1st team football in a position of my choice and are making big noises in securing the best talent that they can get and have a realistic chance of challenging for the league (on paper). On top of that I would be at home with my young child and Wife in a environment that I am familiar with. If Bale chooses Madrid as his destination, Then it is likely that it will be for money and also if it goes wrong for him like it has for a lot of British players, Then he might find it a lot harder to get out. Real Madrid is not the Holy Grail of football it once was, They have proven that themselves and are constantly changing the guard that denies them stability and real success.

A, he's still really young - in no need to move on this summer
B, everyone keeps stating how focused he is on his family, so why would he bugger off to Spain right now

You'd have to imagine that any deal to take our prize asset would HAVE to include the bulk - if not ALL - of the fee up front, otherwise there is no real benefit to us.

80, 90, 100, 125m is not very useful if you don't actually have it and have to chase up payments every few months. We'd be left in a chain where the club has to replace him, somehow, without any money. Clubs would know we need their player but would have to accept letters of guaranteed funds rather than actual money.. not sure that would get us very far.
