Never been worried about Bale leaving but when walking out my hotel lobby this morning I caught on the news something about 95m Coentrao and di Maria. It was subtitles so not sure if I was seeing it right, but an interesting offer if true.

Still would prefer him to just stay, but di Maria and Coentrao are both awesome players AND 95m. You never know his value may never peak quite as high as it is right now.

Still. Don't want him to go.

Whatever money Di Maria might account for I'd rather have than him. I would prefer to get as much money possible (+ Coentrao and maybe Morata) and then whatever money we want to use of it to put it towards Lamela. For me, adding Lamela, Coentrao and Morata represents instant contributors but also the potential for the two youngsters to really become household names for us.

You can't count on this though. Anyone could go down in an innocuous style like Sandro last season. We need someone who can come in and play the system, ie, not Defoe.

I agree, I would love Ade to stay and fight for his place or to be replaced by a class striker like Osvaldo, but saying it's impossible for us to have a great season without Adebayor like mullers isn't true. He's likely to be a backup most of this year.

All this talk regarding Bale going to Madrid and the ludicrous amount of money involved does not translate to chucking that money at other players. Levy would simply not allow that to happen, In his world that would represent bad business and I feel we couldn't get a half decent replacement. It must also be noted that Southampton have a vested interest in the outcome of any transfer and would be due a slice of the pie. Bale wanting to go is a different ball game all together and that is the curve ball that we can't ignore, Personally I feel that Bale is happy where he is...for Now. We have shown that we have ambition and have made some exciting signings and with the addition of some more talent coming in should be all Bale needs to stay.

The seemingly imminent arrival of Soldado is a very exciting one! A world class striker wanting to come to Tottenham Hotspur shows just how far we have come. The ITK talk of more signings is also a very good sign that we are serious about going for the top of the pile, This is the kind of ambition that we have been crying out for! I am really optimistic at the thought of this season. We are going to have a monster of a midfield and an attacking trio that will create and score goals at will. If we can get key defensive players playing week in week out (Kabs and verts) then defensively we should be sorted.

AVB is being given the tools to transform us from a nearly team to a team that should, at the very least be challenging for the Champions league year in, year out..A lot of other fans are looking at us based on last season and see us as pretenders at best! I see our club looking more formidable than utd and really not that far away from Chelsea and City, Of course this is on paper and I missed out Arsenal as they have yet to show their hand in the transfer market and might struggle to get any of their targets.

The first time in a long, long time we have a chance to compete....Seriously, To lose Bale would be A bitter pill to swallow and no amount of money from the sale would soften the blow. Levy must know this and good business to him must be to keep bale and allow his global awareness to propel us both financially and visually! We pride ourselves on our club motto, To Dare Is To do.
Come on Spurs, Now is the time to Dare!!! COYS!

Just newspaper rubbish. Swap deals are rare and you can't sign players who don't want to go. How would we sign Di Maria? and the talk of Coentrao is separate to Bale, linked to the outstanding Modric money.

Too much wages for a squad player, and not a character who is conducive to a successful team ethic when out of the team. Get rid, if we can, and get in someone young, hungry and desperate to score and win.

If we lose Bale this window it would feel like all the great work we have done is for nothing. I have been sure all window he was staying but it has ramped up again lately and it concerns me that he hasn't signed a new contract. Please stay Gareth!

We bought Southamptons sell-on percentage back off them for about one million a couple of years ago when they were hard up. I don't think we would owe them anything.

We would owe them a development fee, it's part of all deals these days - part of the lip service the authorities pay to making sure the money trickles down. Not sure of the percentage but it's low, 5% or something.

That is nice to know! I heard different the other day but I stand corrected as I vaguely remember something like this a while back but has obviously slipped my mind. Apologies for misinforming anyone ;)

Well, SSN's yellow ticker is on Spurs and Soldado, which is bringing back horrific flashbacks of when their little yellow ticker had us and Moutinho on it all day long and also again with Leandro. Nice public humiliations they were. Third time lucky? I'm almost allowing myself to believe that's the case.

I reckon all this renewed Bale chat is just our papers picking up on the bilge that Marca have been reporting. They're jyst trying to unsettle him and the numpties at the Daily Mail and co are jumping on the bandwagon.

That said, 85m is a lot of money. We'd be daft to not at least think about it.

Why would we have to pay a development fee? We paid them a full transfer fee. It wasn't a case of compo after his contract expired/or before he was old enough to be on pro-terms.

I can't see him putting up with that, or knuckling down training hard to displace whoever we have up front (note the way I avoided jinxing anything)

I agree with fluffy bunny. I could have clicked the little icon thingy and rated it as such, but then I would have denied myself the opportunity of letting you all know Mrs TSH's pet name for him.

Fluffy bunny hehe

Billy White on COYS

One man has left.

Unfortunately after yesterday's events I've decided to stop posting. The speed and veracity with which four key strokes (two in particular) set alight the emotions of many is not something I suppose I ever truly thought out when I decided to do this. It was indeed a strange experience to see my every single post dissected, all of my info posted in a lump sum on other forums for all to see, people talking about me on Twitter - everything. I really didn't expect it, nor do I want anything to do with it. I naively thought that I could post in relative anonymity, and after yesterday I don't feel that at all. I must also take into account the anonymity of the several sources whom have passed their info along to me.

I've also realized that it is not my place to get in the way of potential business transactions, whatever form they might take. In an increasingly globalized world, such transactions can falter or change at the drop of a hat, and for me to have any hand in these changes is not something I want to be a part of. It could come back to hurt the club that I love so dearly, and that is not worth this at all.

I apologize profusely for not being able to provide more information on the subject of Bale yesterday. Given the far-reaching impact that a simple emoticon had on yesterday's proceedings, I do hope you can understand my fear of posting any more than that. At the same time, I completely accept that posting a simple emoticon was the wrong thing to do, for many reasons. My information has been "bang on the money" (POTL
smiley20.gif
), and for me to post something negative - something that could be interpreted in so many different ways - on such a sensitive topic was stupid. For that I, again, apologize.

Let it be known that I have not been found out, nor have any of my sources been compromised, but am choosing to do so before anything bad happens, be it to me, my sources, a transaction that would benefit the club, or any other transaction (bar el roedor to L'Arse) for that matter. I also was never out to "take the piss", nor did I "rapidly succumb to the disease of egotism that plagues almost all ITKs upon the receipt of a little boy-band level adulation..." (Hitch, SC, Gareth Bale, P.53) Me leaving after having received such attention would hint to that being almost the complete opposite, although I won't say I didn't enjoy the warm thanks so many extended on this great forum. A great forum that, while perhaps may be a little on the "boy-band central"(Hitch, same post) side of things, stands in stark contrast to the other TH forums, both in quality of content and quality of members. Good work Prof
smiley20.gif
.

I will leave you with a tiny bit of the Bale information one of my sources passed along to me on Friday night: nothing has been decided, and everything is still up in the air, but it's not as peachy as was previously believed/indicated. Sorry to still be vague, but at least you're getting words this time. Hopefully POTL can come on and clue you in more, and if his info still goes against mine then I will be all the happier.

I am having my account deleted, but if I ever do decide to pass more information along, those on this forum (you know who you are) will make sure that you know it's from me. Cheers and here's to a good season - whatever happens. And a 'nana for RS

Why would we have to pay a development fee? We paid them a full transfer fee. It wasn't a case of compo after his contract expired/or before he was old enough to be on pro-terms.

It is part of FIFA's rules.

For example, from the Wanyama to Southampton deal.

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/war-breaks-out-cut-victor-2053839
'According to FIFA rules, clubs who play a part in nurturing players during their ‘development phase’ – between the ages of 12 and 23 – are entitled to a share of five per cent of any transfer fee.

And one of those sides, Nairobi City Stars have already made it clear they want paid. Chairman Peter Jabuya said: “We are looking to get our share of the pie. FIFA laws are very clear.

“This is because our club played a crucial part in his development and the name of our club is inscribed in his trade license.'
