Does anyone else feel a bit meh towards Morgan? I won't be unhappy about signing him, but it's a lot of money.. And Capuoe has been superb. I'd rather we concentrated an Musacchio kept the money till January to see where we need to invest.

I'm with you, but it's also about getting behind MP and showing that he is backed properly...

This would set us up to make a real push in all competitions:

Incomings: Schneiderlin, Remy, Fazio

Outgoings: Sandro, Townsend, Dawson

That's pretty feasible financially, isn't it? When you consider the money brought in for Defoe, we have a surplus of about 10 million pounds at the moment for 2014 transfer dealings. Surely Townsend, Sandro, and Dawson would fetch us another 25 or so million pounds. We could probably sell Chiriches in a pinch, too, but I want to keep him so we have 5 CB's in case of injury.

I would be ecstatic with that.

I wonder how much the Rodriguez being so far ahead on his rehab might impact Poch's thinking.
Knowing that he is likely to be back playing soon will give him around four months to assess how well he has recovered so should have a great idea before the Jan window. Plus of course getting games whilst trying to get his form back at Soton should be a lot easier for him than trying to battle his way in to our team whist trying to do it
I think it makes a lot more sense waiting on Rodriguez than rushing out and buying Welbeck or Remy is they were his other choices

You think we could still get Musacchio?

Poor thing.

Interesting on Schneiderlin. Think he would be excellent with Capoue but................where does that leave Bentaleb? He has looked much, much better with Capoue than at any time last season IMO and could carry on developing into a super player.
..

it leaves him as Schneiderlins understudy, the right place where he can develop under Poch. He's only 19 and will have plenty of chances.

Squad rotation, and considering his age - that would be best for him... And maybe one day soon surpassing his mentors...

OK, I completely get that, but 27m or whatever it is for MS is a huge outlay when our midfield is already purring. Bentaleb needs to keep playing IMO but if we are going to spend big on Schneiderlin I wouldn't mind Bentaleb going to Soton on loan to carry on his progression since we have so much choice in CM.

I think this is why it seems so important Poch isn't solely interested in Schneiderlin for his talents on the field, but rather a more successful implementation of his system. As Schneiderlin said himself, it took Saints about six months before they felt they fully comprehended his instructions. If we can speed that process up considerably with Schneiderlin in the squad, as well as his immediate offering of Poch's instruction on the pitch, then I think that investment would be entirely worthwhile.

Let's send Bentaleb the other way on loan then.

Exactly.

Also injuries will no doubt hit us at some point, we don't want to be weakened by a serious injury or two to one of our midfielders.

I'd love to get him now, and nurture him back to full fitness, benefiting from a fit reinforcement before the Christmas-schedule.

There's no way I see Poch loaning Nabil out.

We have such a full schedule that Bentaleb can play 40 games as starter and sub this season, benefit from Poch's coaching and learn how the tactical system works.

No way would I do that.

If we get MS...we'll have him Capoue, Bentaleb and Dembele competing primarily for those two spots.

I think Holtby and Paulinho are funny ones to fit into this system. Neither for me are true number ten's or excel that well in the 'two'. Both probably would fair much better in 4-3-3's.

Be interesting to see what route Poch's takes with them.

Ideally yes, this would be great for Bentaleb. But with Schneiderlin's arrival, and the reintegration of Paulinho and Dembele, you have to imagine Bentaleb's potential gametime in such a scenario likely would not be conducive to his development. So unless one of the latter two goes as well, I think a full season Prem loan would do him very well.

Don't think we can keep Chiriches and sign two more non-homegrown players. We can get away with it for this year in the league, but not in Europa. That's before we bring in Yedlin, too. Need to lose one or more of Dembele, Paulinho and Holtby, which won't happen this window.
