I don't understand why its just page after page after page of id be happy with soldado - bernard, I think Bernard - remy etc etc, yada yada yada. Maybe im wrong but is this page not to discuss itk not who you want . OK JJ mentioned Bernard this morning and weve heard from numerous itkers that soldado is a target, on the 'list'. But has Remy been mentioned other than in speculation we could end up going for him if all else fails? Its getting to the point where there are endless posts regurgitating the same shit which someone else said 4 hours previous. Please show some restraint as were on to page 13 already and probably 10 pages of this is worth jack shit

I'd more than happily take Bernard and Remy and that be our dealings done.

I would rather Bernard and a young finisher style striker, i don't think Remy is what we need personally.. Basically a cheaper more attainable less clusterfuck transfer version of he who shall not be named..

For us to progress to a regular CL club surely Levy does just have to "pay up".

The smoke screen idea was nonsense, we were in for Benteke it's just we would pay him or Villa. Disappointing.

A frugal attitude seems to be hindering our ambitions.

I do agree with you but on here you can't speak badly about levy or what the club does or fucks up as people on here dont like it you just get given silly ratings.

I agree, with Bale, Bernard, Remy we would have enough movement and creativity to ensure Ade/Defoe stay up top and get in the positions to score goals. I don't think it is always our strikers that are that bad, the supply line is just as important IMO. And with those guys, the supply would be endless!

Although saying that I still want a striker

Got my reservations about Soldado. He had a good season just gone, but that's the first time in his career he's ever got 20 league goals in a top flight season. He'd probably do well for us, just feels like there' isn't the possibility of him being a superstar, and for that sort of money given out budget that's what he'd need to be. Goals, sell-on, marketing, the whole package.

He's had 20+ goals across all competitions for the past 4 seasons. 30 in 12/13, 27 in 11/12, 25 in 10/11, 20 in 09/10. You put that into our squad with him bagging 17+ in the league and we're instantly relevant for a CL Berth as well as some trophies.

For me his one quality is that he can run fast. I think his finishing, awareness, movement, close control etc are all poor.

Benteke's agent played it very well. Either Spurs would pay him or Villa would pay him. He's tripled his wages, which we could easily afford (£60k ish). Villa's £28m or whatever price tag is crazy, Randy Lerner has been briefing the press that Spurs bid £22m and it was rejected.

Once it became obvious to the agent that Spurs and Villa wouldn't agree, they turned back to discussing it with Villa. Yesterday was the first time they'd offered a formal contract.

£22m is not 'a frugal attitude' in this case. It shows how high they are willing to go, though...

Yeah that's what I firmly believe. However others trying to claim we weren't even interested and it was all done to get him a better contract, when he had already been offered one, is nonsense.

He was in a win, win situation. Said it from day one when he started ruling out other Clubs ie he had to be very confident that we would pay up given his transfer request whilst ruling out others but the fall back option of staying at Villa with improved terms gave him that confidence. Always believed he would stay at Villa if we didn't meet their valuation.

Why is anyone even entertaining the idea of Bernard. He's exactly the sort of player the team needs, so clearly Levy won't make any effort to sign him.

Best bring in another central midfielder just in case Sandro, Dembele, Paulinho, Holtby, Hudd, Siggy, and Livermore all get injured. It's not about scoring and winning games, it's clearly about having lots of options.

Even ignoring that Remy isn't very good/suited to us, I'd be a bit morally uncomfortable with him coming to us. At worst he's a high-profile Marlon King or Ched Evans, and at best he's just a nasty piece of work.

IIRC JJ said the case was very weak against him. Can't help feeling he's innocent until proven guilty... These allegations happen loads. Not saying he unequivocally didn't do it but you don't see Manure fans havin a problem with RVP
