We need to be in Europe whichever competition it is - so we may have to travel a bit further, but it is potentially only one more game to win this than the CL. If we had qualified from the group stages of the CL would we all be moaning that it would ruin our chances of qualifying for next years CL - I doubt it (although there are some weirdos on here).
COYS!

Agreed. Who here honestly thinks we would have got much further in the champions league? maybe two more rounds? At least with the europa we have the carrot of champions league next season if we win it....

Why is the draw on Monday instead of today? I thought these things were usually done on the Friday - is it too short notice for teams to send representatives and arrangements made a day after the EL matches were played and qualification sorted?

Anyway, There are still some tough teams in the cup in my opinion

Man Utd, Roma, Fiorentia, Zenit, Villareal, Schalke, Fenerbache, Lyon

We can only draw one of the teams who finished as runners up in their group right? and that excludes Man Utd (or can we also draw a group winner?)

Could see us face Anderlecht again, there;s also the possibilty of drawing one of 3 Spanish teams (Villareal, Bilbao Celta Vigo)
Other than that there's potential trips to Russia and Israel we'd probably rather avoid on a Thursday before an EPL fixture

I'd like us to draw Gent or Genk, short trip for players and fans and a tie would really should win comfortably either way

Someone might of answered this if they saw my post in another thread, but we play the 1st leg of the round of 32 away, after our fixture away to Liverpool, and before the 5th round of the FA Cup. So the 1st leg anywhere might not be so demanding or impact our league form

You'd know he'd knock us out in the last minute though.....:(

Doubt he would do it in the next round as the 2nd leg is at home, and he doesn't know where the net is at WHL:ROFLMAO:

Then I realise we will be playing at Wembley and think we need to avoid Villareal:ROFLMAO:

Oddly enough is Poch doesn't take this seriously (again) I'lll be even more angry than in years past, the reason being this season's competition is winnable as hell. In fact I reckon it'd be easier to go all the way in the EL than it would be to best the scum for 4th. I honestly don't think we stand much of a chance of coming in top 4 in the league this year. That's not pessimism, it's Sissoko-and-Janssen-based realism. We simply haven't improved as much as those around us.

And who knows- maybe Sissoko'll shine under the lesser lights of Europe's best 2nd-rate competition.

If we beat Man U tonight (today in england), we should definitely concentrate on top 4.

I'm still waiting for a Europa game where we really go for the throat.

It's all calm, assured, controlled play and then BOOM! We lose by one goal..

If we want to win it; we're more than capable of scaring the life out of the rest of the teams in there - still not sure our mentality is there yet.. We're tough to beat, but I still don't see a winning mentality.

I'm hoping for Gladbach - my local team for almost 10yrs..............and the best name for a full-back ever: Hansi KLINKHAMMER.

If I was genuinely cynical about Levy I would suggest that 6 games in the CL qualifiers followed by entering the Europa at the final 32 stage was the best way to ensure maximum income from our European games as I'm fairly sure we could still sell out Wembley in the knockout stages.

It also maximises our chances of a European trophy and a CL place through European competition.

It might not be the best result for a team that could guarantee top 4 football in the league or have a genuine shot at winning the CL but for us it's the perfect result.
