I was on the Potter train in the summer but having seen these players churn through another manager, it’s clear Potter would’ve gone the same way.

What went so well for Poch was he needed up with a team of youngsters who were prepared to press and run through a brick wall for him. Then as they got more “successful” their egos grew (Dele etc) and they stopped buying into Poch. The only way a Potter would do well is to go back to those days (like. Dortmund now). That’s not going to happen so we need a Conte to get a rocket up these players.
Away from the Klopp, Peps and now even Tuchel, how many managers are more successful? Zidane? He wants the French job and I still think whilst we have this set of players, it’s too early for Poch to come back.
Clearly the covid situation is better than the summer and we have full stadiums, NFL, boxing etc to generate revenue which they’ve always said would go back into the club. Who knows maybe Conte will be backed and this season could see some
Sort of success. ?

Something beautifully ironic in that we're all dodging work to sit in this thread and slagging off all those work dodgers at the club. :angelic:
Pay me millions to kick a ball about and you'll have my undivided attention :ROFLMAO:

Daniel absolutely has to resist his natural impulse to fuck the managers around and give them bargain basement alternatives to their real targets. He can't treat Conte the way he treated Redknapp in January 2012, or AVB with Moutinho, or Poch with practically every player Poch ever wanted outside of summer 2019, or Jose with Skriniar, or Nuno with Traore. Levy's standard m.o. will have Conte walking out and salting the Earth as he goes. Levy has to turn the keys to recruitment over to Paratici or this will end in tears.
Agree except re Paratici, would add Conte in there too. Those two together, plus Hitchens.
But Conte has to be the deciding voice for me

Only with Spurs bias glasses on. Our squad is nowhere near the quality that Chelsea, Liverpool, Man U, Man C have.

Man U kept Sancho, Rashford, Greenwood, Lingard, Martial, Pogba, De Beek in reserve at the weekend.

By comparison we had Ndombele, Dele, Bergwijn (1 goal in 51 apps), Scarlet (17 years old) and Gil (injured)

There is a danger that Levy is making the same mistake he made with Mourinho where he thinks he can get away with having a manager get more out of the players than is possible rather than actually doing what is needed and buy better ones than we have. But, surely Conte doesn't join us in that case?

Antonio Conte, 1 week after managing Winks and Dele.

He'll want a huge staff (6-7 guys)
Angelo Alessio from Chelsea days is trying himself as a manager, at a minor foreign club though.
Checked Inter's current staff, can't see Conte's assistant still there: Christian Stellini
He also tend to bring his brother Gianluca Conte.
Good. To get high performance you need quality right through the organisation all working well together, not just a new coach with everything else as before.

Winks ran the midfield against Barcelona and looked world class.

I've been a massive critic of him, Dele, etc the last year but everyone starts fresh under Conte.

One thing I'm confident of is that anyone in the team will be there on merit and what they do in training. Conte won't accept any pressure from Levy to pick players.

Part of the reason we are in this mess is because the likes of dele keep getting chances. They down tools knowing they can out last the manager. We have to stop this

Every minute that passes without a positive update, I’m assuming we’ve fucked it up

You've got it easy.

I fuck off for a couple of hours so my carer can do what she has to do with me, and I return to discover 37 new pages.

Has it gone through? Has it collapsed? Has Levy had a stroke after realising the financial outlay he's facing?

Just catching up with all of this after a crazy few weeks. Have barely been able to visit the site. I put some feelers out earlier and just heard back that he's basically gone (nothing you all didn't know already) and we're considering throwing a large sum at Conte to try and get him to come. On a personal level, I don't think we have a chance and it's probably some bullshit to momentarily appease the fans, but I thought it was interesting all the same.
Nearly there ⏳???

Who cares about the tenor of the deal. This guy never lasts more than 2 years anyway so better not to have huge contractual commitment long term and have to write huge check. Im sure we will have option to extend if it’s all going well.

key is just that he’s not bringing in a ton of 30+ year old players that the next guy can’t use (and I don’t think much in his history to suggest that’s how he wants to operate).
