C'mon Dwayne - lighten up!

If you can't get excited about the prospect of Conte what's the point?

These players under Conte compared to Nuno or Jose...the difference would be massive.
*Some of these players. Handful of them shouldn't be here at all.

I get what you're saying though.

The core is there, Hugo, Romero, Dier, Royal, Reggie, Skipp, PEH, Ndombele, Kane and Son should all thrive under him. Lucas, Bergwijn, Tanganga, Gil as well.

But we need a culture change at the club. Conte should bring that.

Dier won't, he's far too limited a player.

TBH he wouldn't be my choice, I never particularly liked his style and don't particularly want him. Im so fed up of not enjoying the way we play, i want to see us play attacking expansive football, not more counter attacking low blocks. I realise he is very successful and he is more attacking then Jose but he still doesn't have the Spurs DNA. I know most want him because his record and completely appreciate and understand that. But i'm just not excited by him, maybe because i watched almost every Inter game last season and despite winning the league I found them really dull to watch on the whole and also really struggled against teams that press high, we would still really struggle against Liverpool and City for example. I understand that there are not many options available, but i would 100% take Mason until winter and get Gallardo, even if it was more a risk. he is more in the mould of what i want to see at Spurs. I mean, I would rather offer Ten Hag exactly what we are offering Conte and hope he says yes, for me Ten Hag would be the ideal manager for me having seen plenty of his managing style. I know most people will disagree with me and I get that, but i'm really not that excited by his appointment, if it happens.
I feel much the same way but it seems it's on the cards. That said it surely must mean we're going to have to spend money on quality players otherwise what's the point, mind you I thought that when Mourinho came in and we didn't do it then so who knows.

This is moving ridiculously fast, I'm used to months of rumours before ending up disappointed. Good job I'm off sick today so in bed with Sky Sports News on.

As much as I wanted Conte here during the manager hunt, he would be a fool to take the job. It's a poisoned chalice.
Yeah you have to question why he'd actually want to come here?

He does seem to like a challenge, I suppose. Inter were a bit of a mess when he took over and he took them back to the very top.

If he can win anything at Spurs that's a huge accomplishment, unlike at other top clubs where it's expected.

Oh, and the huge salary won't hurt.

Having voted for Potter, I've convinced myself I want Conte now. Tough taskmaster who should stop the rot that Nuno hinted at. Love a high press, intense game and wingbacks. If Joe Lewis backs this new direction we might stay ahead of the Arsenal resurgence, West Ham crusade and the Newcastle resurrection.

Or we'll get Ryan until the end of the season and actually manage to go backwards.

I'm not convinced any manager is going to get a consistent tune out of this squad.
Levy needs to accept Winks, Dele, Dier, Davies were part of a good squad 3 seasons ago, but need to be moved on and not asking for extortionate money for them either.

Bizarre if this actually comes about given what happened in the summer. This club :banghead:

I don't especially love the guy, and have a hard time imagining him as our coach, but there is nobody else that can put the type of rocket up the arse of these players as he can, and for where we are right now, that's absolutely beyond necessary. Willing to embrace the drama and see who melts under the scrutiny he'll lay on.

God knows why he would want to walk into this mess. He really must be the nutter that he seems.

Simon Jordon again talking lot of sense on Talk Sport reference potential Conte appointment. Will be disaster if we don’t change the way we do business in transfer market

I mean, how bad is our decision making process that we would rather waste 6 months with Nuno than go for Conte in June
Wasted this season as not much can be done.

But better now than never. Lets hope this gets across the line

Whoever we get I would say the deal is pretty much done. Levy has done this several times sacking a manager then unveiling the new almost immediately. Mourinho was different as DL really didn’t want to lose his idol

Wasn’t one of the issues also around the amount of backroom staff Conte wanted to bring in, from memory it was 8 or something? If he brings a full team, that will be an early sign the club are serious about change. If he brings in a reduced team, 4 or so, then the compromise/short changing has started straight away.
Not sold on Conte, winner yes, and will no doubt lift the workrate, but I feel it’s going to be a forced marriage between bon and Levy that is always going to be volatile and one blow out away from divorce, unless Paratici can run some serious positive interference.
I’d get behind the appointment more than I did Nuno, but for the love of Spurs, I’d still favour longer term project that builds a foundation of attacking style top to bottom.
