Not sure I follow.

What "credit" does Southgate actually have? And, he has been picking personal favorites for a while now - without regard to actual club form.
You can't ignore that Southgate restored pride in the England team both in terms of performance and mentality.

He's done better than any England manager since Venables.

He did a good job changing the mindset and creating a genuine team spirit. Tactically he’s always been questionable though and the impact is getting worse because he plays away from our strength in attack

In terms of results and tournament performances he is the second most successful England manager of all time.

Yes he has always been criticised in some quarters and I have criticised him as well, mostly for tactical reasons, but that is not a record to be sniffed at. This Henderson malarkey is undoing most of the good will he had among the people who generally quite liked him.

Southgate v. France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Belgium (and Portugal):

3W - 6D - 10L

3 wins in 19 matches against Europe's other top teams is not something you should ignore either.

(Southgate has not actually faced Portugal)

He also created a club mentality where they're all mixing together. Whereas before they were in club groups or never really mixed.

I think many forget what he has done for the England side on and off the pitch.

That’s a great photo.
It really is and, you never know, we might be looking at it again in a few years if/when some of those boys are making their way into the senior squad (like that old picture of Kane with Beckham).

The other photos, either side of the one they chose, are good too.

(I think they're fine to share because they're freely available watermarked previews)

When we call Madrid to exercise the "special relationship" we have with them they'll no doubt frame a couple of those photos and send them to DL...

I said the same thing on here a few weeks back. He's nailed on for a Saudi deal imo
Personally if someone wants to go and work out there - fine it’s your choice

no issues with Stevie G going out there

Its when you align yourself to causes entirely at odds with the culture out there and then move - can’t stand the hypocrisy and it shows your supposed interest in a cause was pretty weak when the chance to line your pockets was offered

same as so called environmentalists that fly around in private jets telling everyone that the world is burning and they need to change their lifestyles

He boils my blood like no one else. Hes either blind or stupid. Hes chosen his mates throughout his entire tenure as England manager.

Of course I want the national team to do well but I honestly don’t give two hoots about GS. Certainly not in the way you suggest. I think the National Manager has to have the right balance of blandness - enough knowledge to make him as successful as possible and the ability to not upset most - us, the press and the FA.Probably a lose lose position.

He came in and dropped all the old guard but has now done exactly what the previous managers did and just plays his favourites regardless of form or playing for their clubs. The sooner he leaves and we get a manager that wants to play football the better. Wasting a golden generation on a Championship manager.

Only posting this to comment that I absolutely despise the font England use on socials. It's too narrow and absolutely horrible to read.
