Is anyone else concerned we might be in a bit of a pickle for homegrown players, when several of Rose, Naughton, Defoe, Lennon, Townsend, Sigg, (possibly Dawson) come to leave for more game time?

Given World Cup year n' all?

Having to buy British to replace British, particularly in January could be a tricky one.

Not much wiggle room.

Wellbeck was not first team for a lot of last season IIRC, and he walks straight into the Squad (same for defoe)

This time last week I would have fully supported you in this.

However the way that he has acted since then I do not want him in a Spurs shirt again.

He has always tried to emulate Ronaldo, and has now tried to replicate his arrogance. However, IIRC Ronaldo acted with far more class when he left United.

I agree with you, to be honest i think most will say he should just go. But my point was we don't need to sell Bale to be buying all these players in and can afford to buy players with or without Bale money.

If you look at out current home grown players who are or will be if not sold

Walker
Rose
Lennon?
Naughton
Defoe?
Dawson
Siggy?
Thownsend
Carroll
Kane

IMO all of these would be worthy squad players, may not be all first team but will be more than good enough to do a job when called upon.

Cheers HobbitSpur.

I'd argue with current incomings, only Walker - and at a stretch one of Lennon / Townsend would start 20+ games in the PL.

We heard rumblings Siggy would leave when we thought Willian would come.

Dawson will be back to 4th choice by October.

Carroll needs a loan this year to develop.

Kane would be 3rd, probably 4th choice to playing Lamela up front. He should move.

One of Lennon / Townsend will leave, probably Lennon.

Defoe is back in the same boat as when he left for Portsmouth.

Not being negative - just pointing it's a challenge.

Yes we can say "you can't go" - but AVB ain't the kind of person to stunt careers to keep emergency back up players for a few League Cup cameos.

It's all just gone a little.....quiet.

Need the match to start now to take my mind off why we haven't heard anything post medicals

Is it reality that holtby may be loaned out to accommodate eriksen? I would be absolutely gutted if this is the case? There comes a point when I don't want us to spend for the sake of spending? Holtby has bags of potential and like eriksen got good stats in a different league. (Holtby in a much stronger German league). Why would we sacrifice his progress just for eriksen?
Gutted if this is true

Di Marzio (supposedly tight links with Baldini) has said Lamela will be undergoing his last medical at 8pm... If true, don't think he'll be making an appearance.

Apparently none of the three will be there. I'd expect triple announcement in the morning ahead of NLD on Sunday.

Saw that as well and can only say I would be shocked if that was true. Holtby has, I believe, a great future at the lane

Defoe's pigeon fancying routine at half time. Then pompey complained because he hadn't officially signed for us.
