Welbeck offers nothing that Townsend or Lennon don't, that's my issue, he does the same as them, pace with no end product and poor composure, we will be replacing average for average.

Welbeck offers the same sort of qualities that Poch appreciates as JRod. He works hard, tracks back, presses the opposition, has pace from the wide left and can score goals (not as many as i'd like mind). If he fits the system then i'm happy for him to join up.

Just have to look at Townsends contribution last season to know he isn't good enough. Sad but true. I appreciate he's spurs through and through but so were Dawson, Huddlestone, Defoe and Livermore. Sometimes sentiment can cloud judgement

ACN is not a factor

Its potentially 6 league games and possibly 2 FA Cup games and potentially 2 Carling semi finals dependant on progression of their respective nations...any player participating in the ACN will leave on the 1st January for pre tournament training with the rest of their national squad, as Adebayor did last time, and will not return potentially until mid February...in those 6 league games, we will play Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea...the game before they pop off to their pre training in December, is Man Utd. Its not something to be taken lightly.

Tbh,I'd much prefer Jrod, but there's no guarantee we'll get him in Jan and we need someone in now.

I'm not exactly excited at the prospect of Wellbeck, but it's better than nothing.
