That lack of creativity you mention is largely down to Parkers poor choice of passing and general lack of awareness

Weirdly, I saw an infographic yesterday that said Parker was the player who played the most through balls for us last season. I suspect this reflects badly on the rest of our midfield, rather than well on Scotty.

Exactly. And for those of us that were 'ITK' on this last season, it's not really that weird.

How do you know we have? Or I guess if rumours are true, we could get Barry?

Parker is good enough as back up.

Is that Slipknot ringing in your ears?
Not 100% sold on Barry but he's a lot more creative than Parker and works just as hard for his team, hence the number of England caps that he has compared to Scotty.

Parker's problem last season was that he took it upon himself to try to carry the ball forward and create some chances, which is obviously not his strong point, but no-one else was doing so most of the time.

If we fill that position with the right player then Scotty can get back to his game of winning the ball and closing down players, which he is still good at, even if as only a back up to Sandro.

The problem with Parker last season was positional discipline.
He needed to sit deeper and do what he's absolutely brilliant at, being a human shield.
Instead he seemed hell bent on getting into attacking positions and then giving the ball away cheaply.
Making the most through balls is meaningless if the go no where near a team mates.
The knock on affect of this also meant Dembele couldn't get forward as much as he should. This made Dembele look bad when he's not and meant we had two payers effectively out of position all the time.

If AVB instructed them to do that them he got it wrong. If the players acted on their own it needs to be coached in to them.

Yes but did it say how many reached our players?

Player A had great first season, poor second season in which he had a genuine long term injury. Fantastic attitude and plays in a position in which we lack depth.

Player B had a great first season, poor second season. Appalling attitude and plays in a position in which we desperately need upgrading.

Guess who most on here want rid of.

The moral is, there's nought queer as folk.

Exactly. Parker needs to stick to what he's good at.

Both of them.

How are people angry at Parker? We all know he is at best a squad player now with Sandro first choice - are you surprised that he didn't land a bunch of assists? The creativity from seasons passed disappeared along with Modric and VDV. Could you really tell me who replaced those two? Dembele and someone... A key creative role was never locked down last season and that has far more to do with why spurs couldn't unlock defences than what Parker did or didn't do.

I didn't say I want rid of him. I just pointed out what went wrong last year and how to put it right.

Silly silly SCers. Go take it elsewhere for a while. While the thread is closed you can talk about Scotty P in a thread which you create. Once that is done, you can all come back...maybe.

There's been ITK on Parker (of sorts) and if there's chat about who might replace him or who might sign him even, then I don't see anything wrong with that.

BUT

Talk about his ability, how he played last season, comparisons between him and Huddlestone (for example) are not the stuff for which this thread is here. That has been done to death already several times in Spurs Chat ever since we signed him and it can be done to death again in the players thread if you require.

How can you ignore the goat in the corner of the room?

There was so much bleating on about Parker that it was 'getting on my goat', so donation time it was. Came back to find the thread locked....

Little something in the kitty for the goat now though. (y)

Soooooooooooo, who do we think will replace Parker? Or, rather more accurately, who can be a backup to Sandro? Do any of our watchers of the U21s know if we have someone amongst our youngsters who could step up? :cautious:
