Nah. He can't play right back. And Athletico mainly play a 4-4-2. He will be awful there and will most likely spend most of the time on the bench.

I definitely think he needs to move on but to a team who plays wing backs so he will actually play games in his specialist position.

I don't really see it either but they definitely know how to sign and play defenders under Simeone.

Tripps is a right back though. So was always going to be more comfortable in a back four. I just don't think Doherty has the agility to play as a right back.

We see Tripps like that now, but I strongly remember our fanbase dismissing him at RB because he was too slow to be one and was therefore more suited at RWB.
It's definitely possible I've remembered this incorrectly though. FWIW, I understand Doc for doing it and from the club's perspective it's a good move as it frees up another non-HG spot.

He is a good source. Represents relevo but used to be sky sports Italy and works with di marzio. The Doherty deal also on sky sports news now too
