Just a quick note to say thanks to the mods over the transfer window for what must be a real nightmare of a job, trying to keep the baying hordes in check.

Personally, I think Mr Levy has done a fantastic job getting us where we are but if ever there was a time to spend it was now. I am not sure now we will get near a top 4 finish. I hope our current strikers prove me wrong, I really do.

Very disheartened over this transfer window.

We are out of the 2 domestic cups and let's be honest, the Champions League is an unlikely route for us to win.

The idea of being in the Champions league is that we can look to het to the next level and obtain Champions League every year and look to become genuine title challengers. This window provided us with the chance to address an area which has failed all season and would help us in this target. Harry and Levy failed to deliver.

Man united have not lost this season, arsenal seem to have the right blend of striker, man city stump up a shed load of money to get dzeko, Liverpool replace Torres with 2 strikers and chelsea sign an amazing striker and address their defensive frailties. On top of this, villa sign a proven goal-scorer in the premier league and Sumderland strengthen.

We will not obtain champions league football this season. Why? Because we have a set of strikers that don't do their job. We have a manager who has shoe horned vdv into a formation of 4-4-1-1 that does not work and is too stubborn to change. We have a manager who is scared to spend big money to move us to the next level and a chairman who likes to get a deal done in such a tight fashion that it portrays the club to potential targets as a business (which it is) rather than an ambitious team looking for players to improve.

If the rumours from yesterday are correct and we were rejected by a lot of players, then we need to understand why. Why can Liverpool get Suarez and Carroll and tue them up with relative ease and we end up with a bid for phil Neville rejected and a random bid for Charlie Adam agreed but too late in a window which lasts 31 days...(whined need him i don't know.....)

I don't post a lot, bu this window has been so infuriatingly awful that come the end of the season, Levy and Redknapp will relect on this opportunity and think of what could have been. We are in serious danger of not obtaining UEFA cup next season in my opinion let alone Champions League. If this happens, expect serious bids for Bale, VDV and our jewel in the crown Modric to be made and as we can see from this window, the players hold the power.

To be honest, I'm quite glad we didn't end up shelling out £35m for Andy Carroll, would rather wait for the summer to do business.

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, Harry is out of his depth! Good manager of football but if it's not a wheeler dealer deal then he bottles it. Harry's only risk is he will buy a player that no other team wants and gets that player to play his strengths and go for a big profit. If it works he's a magician and if it fails well it was only a small fee and everyone thought that player would fail. The ITK last night (someone who has a contact on the board) said Harry kept changing his mind about players when the first bid got rejected. How he can say Suarez is not the player we need is beyond me. The last bit of ITK was Levy was all set to go all in for Llorente (sp) and Harry persuaded him not to!!
I think had we just left it and then made a statement today quoting crazy fees for player maybe just maybe some of us could understand that but to go in for Charlie Fuckin Adams in the last 4 mins smacks of a joke and an insult to the fans.

Right, seeing as I got that off my chest lets go back to what we do best and thats support our club and get behind Harry.

I think were all disappointed and I dare say Levy too. Did we try to buy? Did we succeed no.
I think the important thing is, is to get our strikers scoring, the answer isn't always to go and buy...
We do have a great squad, one that got us where we are today... Let's get them firing again...

I feel sick. What a joke. All the top strikers we were linked with or made bids for. And our main deadline day bids were for..........Phil Neville and Charlie Adam. Top four? Do me a favour. We'll be lucky to scrape fifth. Levy and Redknapp knew we needed a quality goalscorer. How on earth Neville and Adam fit the bill, whatever their other qualities, is totally beyond me.

Cue the summer and I really believe it's bye bye Bale, Modders, maybe even VDV. Any player with ambition surely won't want to join a club with patently so little. Or such awful planning of its transfer and team building policy.

Though in fairness, we did buy a quality midfielder Everton didn't need anymore and an obscure South African centreback.

At least we should be able to hang on to the Blanks Firing Crew. Cos Harry thinks they're good enough.

We are a joke, are we obly club the pisses off every club in tbe world, ill be surprised if any clubs will want to business with us, why leave it till late? We got screwd snyway and have blown a top 4 finish, if we had atleast got in the main men st the start without the last minute rush / auctiin well atleast we wud have the playrs to take us to CL. We fuked up big time, this is not just a rant but weve vlown our goslden opportunity to become an elite team, harry fliked it with vdv, imagine without him were thw fook wed be

I think it's understandable to be disappointed.

We are playing terrible at the moment and our strikers couldn't buy a goal between them.

We haven't strengthened our team, our rivals have - massively.

Can we now secure champs league again? Very unlikely if I'm being honest, we are out of all cups, barchamps league. Pretty shitty start to the year when it was going so well.

But it's difficult to compete in a market where Andy Carroll costs the same as David villa!!
Conspiracy about moving from WHL, apparently a few players didn't want to come here even though we had bids accepted, gotta ask ourselves why really!!!

Averaging 1.93 PPG over the last 12 league games, losing just one, is terrible? Really?

There are ome seriously short memories about.

Agree with you to an extent SS57 but since before Christmas we have not been playing as well as we can. Bale has hit the skids, VDV strolls around and the strikers are still not firing....the result against Fulham has been coming in my opinion and Blackburn are no mugs. The next few games will shape our season.

Although i am not a doom and gloom sort of guy, I must say we have really missed a trick this January by not signing a quality striker and DM, although i'm not suggesting this was an easy task. However Chelsea have addressed their problems and Liverpool have signifcantly strengthened their strike force with Torres looking disinterested while there all season.

Unfortunately whilst we have not obtained the players we need, we have also shifted a few players who could have been useful later in the season. Its now going to be a big ask to stay competitve in the CL whist maintaining a position in the top4.

Mods, can we also ban the idiots who are now going to use our lack of activity as an excuse to be unnecessiarily rude about the ITKs from further windows? As this would probably help ease the future server issues

On the flip side of the coin DL and Hr had the period between the last window and this one to identify suitable targets, they were able to engage with the respective clubs and could have had 2 strikers signed up by december already. there may have been problems with getting clubs to sell in this window. one thing is for sure is that we need to identify targets as of now and have them signed up by may/june and NOT wait until august.

Just goes to show we have no strategy at all.

This is what annoys me most about this window. We just seemed to have no real plan going into it, the summer was much the same.

Harry thinks it is hard to improve on our current strikers, yet doesn't like playing Pav and has loaned out Keane. He also clearly understands Crouch isn't on form in the league (said as much yesterday) - which leaves only Defoe as a somewhat viable choice.

How we didn't identify several strikers and approach their clubs ahead of time to strike a deal when the window opened amazes me. We really are looking amateur in these windows now.

I understand what you're saying. But our recent win against the mighty Charlton is not a league win. Isn't it now something like 1 win in five? We're in a run of losses and draws - not exactly the kind of form of an aspiring top four club. Unless our strikers start finding the net regularly, the midfield starts protecting the back four and dominating the opposition and we start defending a good deal better, I can see us, in the words of Paul Simon, "Slip sliding away"..............

On a serious note, it wa a shambles of a window.
After one tremendous season last season we haev blown an opportunity to push on and cement ourselves in the top 4.
We wont get top 4 this season, we wont get champions league again for a few years at best. Enjoy the Milan game, and if we progress, enjoy the next game. Unless we win the fucking thing we wont be competing in it again for a very long time.
Man U will rebuild in the summer, City will continue to strengthen and dont be surprised to see a massive bid for Modric from Chelsea in the summer.

I'm very disheartened at the last month, think it has been very damaging, and I am sure there is disappointment within the squad that we are no stronger after this window. Everyone bar the strikers that is.

its time for Defoe to show his worth. His season has been interrupted by injury, suspension and general uselessness. Time to Deliver wee man.

6 points this week is a must to install some belief among players and fans again.

To be fair, we should have all known Chelski were gonna strengthen significantly this window, especially after the way they have been playing.

Liverpool spent Chelski's money. That's all. They got a windfall and blew it on A.Carroll. Let's not forget this time last year Carroll had 3 or 4 goals scored in his whole career. 35M for that is completely over the top and not what I would have wanted for Spurs. That money would buy Benzema come the summer, and then some!!

I reckon we could still challenge. Man Utd and Arsenal haven't signed anyone and we were saying before the window that our squad depth and quality is better than their's.

If Defoe starts scoring a few and gets his confidence back, Bale coming back soon abd with Woodgate fit again i'm still confident of a top 4 finish. Hopefully THudd will be back soon enough too.

Wouldn't it be great if we did achieve it, without spending 35M!!!

I reckon Harry and Daniel tried their best. But the way money was spent yesterday and through the window means club's were asking for ridiculous money and players were asking for ridiculous wages. It's Levy's job to look after this club and that means it's finances as well.

To be honet, if I was waking up today knowing we'd just splurged 35M on Carroll it would have been an anti-climax. What a shitload of money on unproven quality.
