Caught up with my mate on phone earlier hadn't spoke to him for week or so.
He has worked at Spurs most of his teenage years and recently secured a full time job in a department (don't want to say which)
He's quite good mates with his boss and this guy hears fair bit of info, albeit 2nd hand or so... Seems within the higher circles of employees quite a lot of info seems to circulate regarding rumours of transfers etc (this is expected)
Anyway what he's heard (these are only what he's heard but obviously all in house so I trust them but pinch of salt and all that)
- Benteke won't be done this week but general consensus is he will be our player:
- Chadli is a Levy signing and AVB would prefer others on the list
- 'Two/three more in' but I got impression this depended on outgoings, maybe BAE idk?
- He said there was mutterings over concerns of Dembele's fitness... (Fingers crossed only a rumour. Could explain the interest in Anderson/McCarthy - My source didn't mention these players though)

McCarthy is quite a creative player no? Would give us some options instead of just the big 3 in the middle.
He's a good passer and has an eye for a pass, but he's more of a tempo dictator type than someone who will regularly open up defenses. I think he's a good player and will become very good, but I think the money would used better on the gaping holes we have in the forward positions.

McCarthy has committee signing written all over him, not that that is a bad thing.

Thanks for info EY and know you wouldn't post bollocks on this so appreciate it!

Bit disconcerting on the Chadl info mind you...

Sounds like you're describing Rat-boy!

Anderson ITK is ancient. Chrissivad just highlighted earlier McCarthy interest via old ITK.

So we can stop crying over Anderson.

If we do adopt a 3 man midfield for the campaign, I guess I could see a five man rotation of Sandro, Dembele, Paulinho, McCarthy and Carroll working with the obvious hint that Parker, Huddlestone and Livermore are deemed surplus to requirements.

All would get plenty of games I feel but this can't be at the expense of more glaring deficiencies in the side, of which have been explained to death.

Where does it fit holtby ?

Yeah I don't think we'll get Benteke wrapped up this week, either.

Dembele has always had a problem with an recurring injury, hasn't he? Think it's his hip?

In other news, Coentrao wasn't training at RM today. Has there been any ITK on him?

I like McCarthy but if we were going to add another CM then I would hope it would be more in the mold of Pjanic. We already have pass and move CM's in Carroll and Holtby.

Holtby would likely occupy a more advanced role but admittedly, this is where certain players and the system don't necessarily fit well at all.

Above all else, I don't want Carroll's chances stunted as he's a diamond.

I know we need a striker but surely Benni Mcarthy is past his best. We can't afford both him and Hudd in the canteen!

Maybe it'll be a case of managing Dembele's health over the course of the season better with capable player's ready to fill the void.

In all honesty, after Sandro was crocked, Dembele and Parker basically played non-stop - including the Europa.
